It works
I am a smaller person my husband is a bigger person. Due to an illness he had trouble getting from a sitting to a standing position. He is so much bigger than I am that I can not help him with out getting hurt myself. This device helps provide leverage during the process to help him stand. It is the same principal as if he had a safety handle to hold onto except the wall is not holding the safety handle - you are holding the safety handle. Very handy device and priced reasonably. I would recommend this product. It is well made.

Great Item!
My wife has a very hard time getting up from chairs, sofas. I seen these before but truly wonder if it would help. So I bought it and also came in her favorite color purple. She sat down in her recliner and when it was time for her to get up I tried it. I held on the one end and stood across from her and she held on to the other end. I moved back and she got up with no problem what so ever. I have a bad back am 72 and did not suffer at all getting her up from that recliner. She was up and safe, at age 72 also and also use it to help her out of the bed. . Wish they had this item way before now. What a great invention for people.

better than grabbing her hands
Mom has arthritis throughout her body so it's almost impossible to help her without causing pain. My solution was to hold out my fist for her hold on. But still, it wasn't a good grip for her. I had a good feeling about this device which proved true. I tell her to scoot forward which makes it easier on her shoulders as she pulls herself to a standing position. This is better for the caregiver too, as you're not straining back muscles. Just stand w/feet shoulder length apart, back straight, slowly, smoothly, draw the device towards you.

Simple but VERY effective tool to help someone up from a sitting position.
My girlfriend has difficulty getting up from chairs in public and using this tool, makes it relatively easy to help them up. If you try this by holding their hands with your hands, often it is difficult to get a good grip. This solves that problem. It may look a bit awkward using this in public, but it's better than having to ask someone else for help, or worse still having them go down on the floor and having to call EMS.

Not very useful
In order to use this both people have to have some strength. The one on the chair or ground has to have more strength than the person pulling on it, especially if the person doing the pulling is small and weak. I donated it.

Great help for elderly family members
Bought this to help an elderly family member get up easier. She has fallen and found it difficult to get her back up due to both knees being replaced and a heart problem. This make it easier for her to stand from sitting or from the floor. Great product to have around!
