MARKY'S American Pink Salmon Roe Caviar Wild Caught - 4 oz / 114 g

My husband and I are both over 80 and becoming forgetful. My daughter-in-law is Japanese and said they believe in Salmon roe as one of the few things that cross over the brain barrier to feed our brains. I decided to try it and found it was very salty and very fishy. Yuk! HOWEVER, I decided to use a piece of rectangular seaweed (sold as a snack by Amazon), a spoonful of cooked plain rice, a small spoonful of this roe, about 4 drops of fresh lime juice, wrap it up and eat and found it very tasty!! Surprise! Even my husband likes it and we eat it every other day. I THINK it helps a bit, especially when we keep it up. You only need to eat about 1 oz at a time but they don't last more than 3 days in the fridge once opened. It is not a cheap snack but when you count, it is not that expensive at 1 ounce's worth per person, especially if it is good for you.

The caviar shipped overnight, and is fresh. It smells tangy, lightly fishy, as to be expected. The taste and texture are definitely something new for me. They’re delicate, bursting at the slightest pressure. The flavor is a bit salty, tangy. Eaten raw can be strange for the first time. But accented with something is the best bet. It’s good for a salty, tanginess. A bit of an nutty aftertaste. Once you get over the boba-like texture, it’s actually pretty good! A bit of a pricey item, something on occasion, that’s for sure!

Added this to my salmon and dill cream cheese appetizer at Thanksgiving and it was a hit! Very mild and tasty- even got some people who have never tried caviar to eat it and they loved it. Will definitely buy again.

Aside from the ridiculous amount of packaging it came in, this caviar is on the bland side. It needs more salt.

Fresh, very well packaged and quickly shipped. The salt level was moderate which is good. The eggs themselves were not separated but linked by a gooey gel, not bad tasting but not precise. Salmon flavor was mild. A mid-level product.
