Bought this moisture meter after some flood damage to my home .Many of the tradies who worked on my restoration had a similar unit .Can't compare it to what they are using but I believe what it tells me and that is that a good thing .

I pondered getting a new meter. I prefer USA manufactured, but settled for this Chinese made. It does well. No complaints.

I’ve used this on a variety of materials in the various modes and I’ve gotten consistent and reasonable values each time. Certainly not the cheapest unit, but I’m willing to spend a bit more on a decent product. I’ve tried it on sheet goods, construction lumber, firewood, hardwoods, and the like. I used the right mode for each type of material. When using the pin mode I didn’t jam it in, but used enough pressure to make good contact, each time aligning the pins with the grain. I even used the pad mode on some older furniture indoors and got what I would have expected. Wood i’ve had in my shop for some time also got good results. If you are looking for a moderately priced unit that works reliably, this just might be it.
