Q: Does this product help tooth decay?

Hi, I work in Periodontal Surgical Care. It helps in that you're cleansing/rising excess food, sugar, & gunk off your teeth. And dry mouth can exacerbate your chances of getting cavities/decay. So in that regard, yes. However, as the other person mentioned, fluoride is the only proven method to prevent cavities & especially decay. To address the OTHER person who said it stains your teeth and is unnecessary...that depends. If you don't drink your tap water, have your own well, use reverse osmosis, or filter your water (Zero Pitcher), you're not getting much (if any fluoride) from natural sources. Staining: "stannous fluoride" can cause tooth staining, but protects against decay, gingivitis, plague, & tooth sensitivity & is most effective for overall mouth health. Sodium Fluoride also protects against cavities, is unlikely to stain teeth, but isn't as effective against gingivitis, sensitivity, or plaque. So if you're getting fluoride from a good toothpaste, topic treatments, or (unfiltered) fluoridated water...you may not need a fluoride mouth wash. If you're not using other topic fluoride toothpastes, treatments, OR water...you should probably start (at least one of the above) in order to prevent decay. Hope this helps! 😊

I don't know specifically, but charcoal is supposed to affect whitening. It has helped maintain whitening of my teeth and is by far the most effective mouthwash I've tried.
