Q: Can you remove the flow restrictor from this model?

The flow restrictor is more difficult to get out of the newer model. I wouldn't bother unless your water pressure is very weak. On full blast the water comes out so hard it was hurting my head. I put the restrictor back in.

Q: What are the lithium batteries for?

Huh??? Nowhere does it state in listing that it requires batteries.

Q: Is there a way to know when its time to change the filter?

Actually yes. You'll know when it needs to be replaced because the flow of the water will decrease. In general the manufactor recommends replacing it every 6 months with your average 10,000 gallon usage. Main reason I purchased this filter was for the chlorine smell reduction and it does a pretty good job at that. Having said that, I will more than likely replace it every 4 months because the Chlorine really get's to me while showering and it's a great neutralizer for that. I hope this helps.

Q: Will this help with rust/iron issues? It's turning my grout and everything orange.

I don't think i understand your question , is the culligan wall mount causing rust /iron issues? It isn't for me , so i don't know what is going on or why the filter would be doing that or the chrome itself shouldn't be. I have clean water coming out of mine and no orange coloring on anything.

Best shower ever!

Great shower head - the flow is powerful, and also has generous droplet size. Our last shower head had small fast jets with a wider spray pattern, but this one is the perfect hybrid between rain shower and powerful spray. The filter is great and softens the water for a better shower too.

Solid and good quality product

Easy to install. Filter is included as is some Teflon to tape to make the seal water tight (a nice touch). Recommended.

Backed up by science

You definitely need a proper shower filter to prevent your skin and hair from the damage done by desalinated water. Most water filters are gimmicks with no real studies backing them up. This is the real deal.

Terrible

I found this shower head to be very inefficient and ineffective. It drastically decreased water pressure to the point the water was practically trickling down and not showering/raining down. I tried to use it without the built-in filter but it’s made in a way that it’s not possible to do so.
