Works very well
I purchased this unit after having bought a Sense version that would not connect to Bluetooth during installation. Both this unit and the Sense one are exactly the same except for the color of the housing. They both install the same way, have the same hardware and share the use of the Sense app. Despite the challenges I had with the Sense-branded unit, I was aware of the Bluetooth issue and was willing to try Square D. The replacement unit worked without issue and the results from energy monitoring appear very close to the local utility estimates. If you’re looking for real-time energy data, this works extremely well.

Terrible Experience – Used Items, Missing Parts, and Financial Loss
I am extremely disappointed with my purchase. Both items I ordered arrived used and missing parts, making them completely unusable. To make matters worse, I financed this purchase through Affirm, which means I’m now stuck paying off a loan for items I can’t even use. On top of that, I hired a professional electrician to install these items, which added significant costs to this ordeal. Now, I’m not only paying interest on the loan, but also the cost of the electrician’s services and the warranty, all for products that are defective and incomplete. This situation feels completely unfair and should be illegal. I’ve tried to resolve this issue, but the financial and emotional toll has been overwhelming. Companies should not be allowed to sell defective products and leave customers to deal with the fallout. I hope this review helps others avoid the same mistake.

Incorrectly stated technical specification
In the technical details of the product it is stipulated that the operating voltage is 240V. Not true. In reality this energy meter works only in 120V split-phase electrical grids. I returned it because I can't use it for European grids. Return received on: Oct 14, 2023 and refund was initiated on Oct. 14 2023. Amazon states that a refund will appear on your bank account or credit card statement within the next 7 days. Today we are in Oct 25, 11 days later and this refund has not yet been made.

big clamps
Only a day now, a star off for the size of the clamps. wow like three fingers size. The information review shows this did more options of changing item names, then sense unit did. Now information claims to download the sense app. Where is the oem app advertised ? You need a big panel with space for the clamps. 2-3 weeks to id something, so nothing yet in a day. Pc view does not show wattage small change displays, just total on top, where the cell phone app keeps showing little change wattage icons on display. Found out my coffee maker uses 478 w every 5 minuts about. Just to stay warm, cycles on and off. tried to call with a question, impossible it seems. UPDATE 3 weeks, found about 8 items, still trying to id them, only 3 were accurate id.

Not very useful
Works very well for modeling Solar, and not much else. After four years, it has hardly identified any devices, and doesn’t consistently report on them. This product is a ghost ship. Cannot recommend.

I am a fan of this product
I bought mine from one of the big box stores. The prices are all the same everywhere. I went to school for electrical engineering so this was an easy install. I have a 150A service coming into my house. I am converting a gas kitchen to an all electric kitchen and adding an electric vehicle charger. This device lets me know how close I am getting to the 150A limit and whether I need to upgrade the service to the house or not. As long as you are comfortable working on electrical panels and understand and have a healthy respect for AC power, the installation will be quick and straight forward. If you are not sure, then by all means hire a licensed electrician.

Update: 10/27/25 - Do not buy this product!
When this used the Sense App, it was pretty decent. Now it’s complete garbage and I’ve wasted a bunch of money for something that has about zero useful functionality. Only buy thing if you really hate your money.

This is the same as the orange "Sense" one. Square D purchased rights to sell theirs. The only difference is that this one says it's "certified for Square D electrical boxes" but it will fit in any electrical box with enough room to place the clamps around the main leads. I am two months in and it has probably picked up about 10-15 things in my home. Some are a little tricky. I have two fridges and an upright freezer and I think it gets confused between them. Sense will, over time get more accurate with them though. I actually purchased this to see how expensive my heat pump is to run so I could compare it to the cost of firewood. Sense has helped me conclude how to best heat my home. I recommend to anyone looking to make some big electricity usage decisions.

Okay. I've had 'sense' installed now for 2+ months and it's only managed to PROPERLY identify 4 devices (Oven light, furnace fan, garage door opener & microwave). Oh, and of those, it flip flops on what 2 of them are based on (what I can only assume is) wind direction... For no discernable reason and on no discernable schedule, it confuses my microwave and garage door opener?? As for PROPERLY identifying, it has to date tried to identify 17 items in total, but 13 of them have been incorrect, and not SLIGHTLY incorrect.... I'm talking things like identifying an oven / stovetop element as a bathroom fan, etc?!?!?! Not impressed based on cost of system.......
