Great Laptop for the price. In detail review.
Hear me out. I have few PCs and laptops, love tech, and family members usually come to me for advice. Month ago, I bought mini PC box with Intel's 12 gen N100 CPU to replace very old i5 gen 2 PC and I was pleasantly surprised on how it handled browsing on two browsers with dozens of taps open, while at the same time being able to install applications or Win11 updates in the background. Intel's N100 cpu with 4 efficient cores does it for everything aside gaming. I read review here that CPU scales to 100% even if you don't work on much tasks, and this is true, but pay attention to CPU frequencies, so yes, it hits 100% utilization at 1Ghz, but then as you increase workload, it will scale frequency up and there will be no lags. Second, there are many reviews here from before this year. Keep in mind that Intel N100 cpu was released in January this year and I would discard any reviews from before February 2023. If you read review from May 2023 on how laptop died after 6 months of use, then this isn't this laptop, but some previous model. I bought this laptop week ago and did good amount of testing on it. Screen is beautiful and bright! Quite a surprise. I didn't expect this for the money. Keep in mind that Intel wants $130 just for CPU. You as well need Windows 11 license, keyboard and trackpad, motherboard with WiFi and BT, RAM and M.2/SSD, monitor and battery, all for aprox $250- - $270. If you compare this to cheapest N100 mini PC for $160 (cheapest as of this review), then you add Monitor, keyboard, trackpad, and batteries for only $100. That's a deal. I already mentioned that monitor is great. Keyboard is good, and trackpad is big and works fine. I benchmarked batteries, and they will last around 6 hours under normal workload, at very comfortable screen brightness. If you play games (at low resolution and at lowest setting) battery will last around 3.5 hours which is great. I recommend this laptop for basic use. You can't upgrade RAM, but you can replace M.2 SSD with up to 2TB one. Keep in mind there are two kinds of M.2 sticks, the one that works with SATA bus, and other on PCIe bus. This one is sadly slower one, SATA, (why CHUWI, oh why?) SATA m.2 are top up at 500 Mb/s, while those on PCIe bus are usually 10x faster. Not that it matters as much, it's not a bottleneck in this case. Compatible M.2 for grat price for those that want to upgrade storage space is TEAMGROUP MS30 2TB with SLC Cache 3D NAND TLC M.2 2280 SATA III 6Gb/s. 1TB or 512GB will work with this laptop as well. If anyone from CHUWI read this, here are few things to improve in the next model. First and foremost, please, for the love of God, USE USB-C FOR CHARGING and make it compatible with PD power delivery so we can charge laptop with phone chargers or batteries on the go. Having anything else but USB-C charging for smaller laptops in 2023 is a NO. Laptop could be much lighter. I figured out that there is thick heavy metal plate on which motherboard and other components are mounted which is unnecessary, as it would not really protect screen. See how to make laptop lighter, please. Finally, components, especially heating pipe with fan could have been positioned so that it leaves space to add another M.2 drive, full SSD drive, or bigger battery. Also, please use PCIe M.2 storage. Sure, I don't expect this in such cheap laptop, but it is just little bit more engineering effort that could give us perfect result. I will will be monitoring incoming products form CHUWI. Thank you!

Frustrating Audio Issues
For almost a month now I have been trying to solve audio issues. But it's like boxing in the dark because I can't tell for sure if they are Win11 related or due to hardware. I have gone over and over and over the sound settings. All the drivers are up to date. When tested in the Control Panel, the system sounds are fine. But I have almost NO volume from within any browser - videos on my Google drive, YouTube, Amazon - only the faintest sound. All the apps in the Sound Control panel are set to max. The only way I can get any volume at all is through a Firefox Sound Booster extension. There are a ga-zillion complaints all over the web about this issue (both in Windows forums and Gemibook forums) and I have tried everything they suggest. I'm at my wit's end. UPDATE 3/31/24 I actually had to just put the laptop away so I didn't throw it through a window. So here I am a year later. Decided to downgrade to win10 with a clean install. Downloaded the Win10 installer tool from Microsoft and ran it on a USB drive. WHAT A FREAKING NIGHTMARE!!! Now I have, essentially, little more than a brick. Almost no drivers are compatible. So now I'm searching the internet (on another laptop because the Gemi has no internet adapter) to find the correct drivers. There are so many sets floating around out there - the last set I downloaded were from 2018 and worthless. Just as worthless as Chuwi customer service. Never again. NEVER.

very nice laptop
OK, so Chuwi isn't a household name in the US, but it is big over seas. PRO Nicely configured and plenty capable. Thin and relatively light. Plastic case, but not flimsy. Perfect for traveling. Thin and inexpensive so you dont have to worry about it CON I wish that it had USB PD, so it would charge through the USB C port. Also would be nice if it had a touchscreen but its just a wishlist item and not really necessary

Monster laptop for a $350 price point. Stylish, light, quirky but fun.
I have the i3 processor, which you would think would slow things down, but not so. Very robust performance. A few things to get used to.....the most annoying thing is the power button is not separated from the main keyboard...and I get why this was done from a cost perspective....Its just that i keep accidentally turning my machine off all the time... ARGH!. This is a very compact machine with a killer good screen. The size and aspect ration, takes some getting used to especially if you are used to conventional business laptops, but in the end its just great. This laptop, it has surpassed all expectations..

Nice low end laptop for general use. 2nd nvme slot great for dual boot linux and windows. Running linux Mint as main OS without issues for almost a year now. Only issue, charger cord is freyed at the 1.5mm connector. Will need to order replacement.

Great value for a 13 inch laptop with good specs
This thing is great. There is no competition for quality affordable 13 inch laptops. The keyboard is top tier. The performance is peppy. If I had to complain about anything, I would like the screen to be laminated to the glass with better backlighting. The pixel density, color, and contrast are pretty good. The touchpad is only middle tier. The build quality overall is good for this price, but the bottom has a bit too much plastic flex.

Battery almost started on fire.
Overly sensitive keyboard. Didnt like using it. Then the lithium battery overheated. Wondered why pad wouldn't work. It had swelled and was ready to burst!

Received a broken computer
The computer I received was nothing like the photos and also did not work. It said “Gemí Book Pro” on the back, but did not have the same features as listed. Also, the Microsoft OS was so corrupted and that it didn’t even recognize a rescue USB. I returned it a couple days after trying to fix it. Save your money.

I usually buy Apple products. I am on a budget, so I was in the market for a laptop with a low-price tag. I have bad experiences with cheap PCs. I took a leap with this one. I have had it for a week and so far, it has impressed me. I love the trackpad. It reminds me of a Mac. You can definitely feel the lower quality when you first starting using it, but once you get used to it, it's not that bad. I do not like the sound it makes when you actually click, but it's bearable. I use it for work which includes using the basic Microsoft programs and operations. I do not use it for gaming. The speed is great and have not seen any lagging. I plan on updating this review as time passes.
