I should probably start with the fact I have never used a self-tanner before. Ever. I admit, I used to find it funny when people would use them because they would always have a bit of an orange-tone to their skin and I thought of the cost of tanners compared to the free sunlight outside people could be using. However, recently I have been trying to take better care of my skin and that has resulted in me becoming splotchy in color because somehow my arms have become far darker than the rest of my body. I wanted to even out the tones without laying outside and causing damage. That being said, I wanted to try a gradual tanner to give me just enough color on my legs to match my arms. I purchased this gradual tanner based on the reviews as well as some YouTubers (such as LeighAnnSays) and thought this was the best match for me. I went with some of the advice of people who use tanners often and did dry brushing before I showered (highly suggest!), and then shaved and put on the lotion after I got out of the shower. I went light on the knees and didn't use the product on my arms at all because they're definitely tan enough. Within the first few hours I noticed my pale legs had a glow to them. This tanner does show that you will not be "tan" until about a week of daily use, but I noticed quite the difference after day two. It wasn't streaky, but it did get orangish around my toes, so be careful on that. While it smells nice when applying, it does have an off-putting odor after having it on 2-3 hours, which you should be aware of if you plan to go out after putting some on (I thought it was dirty hair, but it was definitely the moisturizer). I also noticed how much product I was using because my skin was soaking it up, but I fixed that by putting on some in-shower lotion before and then applying this after, you will use less product this way. It recommends using it daily, even twice a day if you want to be darker, but I only use it about every other day because I don't want to use of the bottle too fast. I bought the face moisturizer along with this and highly recommend it because it works super well. I went through the reviews before I purchased. I was really skeptical. I used to be a big tanning bed person until I grew up & realized how much I was damaging my skin. Then I switched to sunless tanners. Those can be annoying, having to wait hours and then it fades, gets blotchy etc. I thought this type of lotion would be worth a shot, so I purchased it. I tried it immediately that same night and I saw results literally overnight. Nothing too drastic, it just looked like I had some sun. I applied again on day 2, woke up on day 3 and the results were even better. I’m not sure if shave/exfoliate will cause issues but I will edit if need be once I exfoliate etc. the 2 CONS- I reeked of self tanner the next morning. I slept with it on, when I applied the lotion, it did not smell like that at all. It was immediately upon waking, I could smell that distinct self tanner smell. It’s not a deal breaking con, it doesn’t smell bad, it’s just a smell that annoys me and isn’t any different with the other products I have to sleep in to get color—maybe just a bit less. The 2nd CON.. I read some people were putting this on their face. Well, I purchased the face one as well, but that has spf in it... I’m not outdoors so I used the body lotion on my face. Let me just make it known not many things make my face react... well, I woke up day 2 with a rash of bumps.. that’s how my skin breaks out. I strongly suggest not putting this on your face... I have dry skin, sometimes combo, this stuff did not sit well with my face. I will be using the one made for the face for now on, on my face. I wish they had a PM face gradual tan... without the spf- SPF can clog pores. Also, I wish they had this lotion for the body with SPF.. for days I’m out in the sun. I like to have a choice in general whether or not I want to have spf on my skin—hope they look into doing something like that sometime soon because I love these lotions! EDIT- about 5-6 months later. I just ordered another bottle (this time I didn’t get the lotion tube bottle, I got the tall bottle w/ the pump). IF YOU USE MAKEUP WIPES, be mindful of where you’re wiping. i’m left with a really tan chest & my makeup wipes seem to be taking off the color - whereas my face wash wasn’t leaving such a drastic difference. i’ve been back at work now for the last 5-6 months so the days i work, i’ve had to use makeup wipes to take off the makeup - while it’s only 3-4 days a week, it’s definitely caused an issue. if you don’t have to use makeup wipes, it’s a lot better with the consistency from your face to your neck. :)

I have used this product before years ago and totally forgot about till a friend let me use cause I needed lotion so I ordered some myself to test it out. I ordered medium tan. I have fair to medium skin tone. The product is good and it does work. For myself I saw a slight color change after a days use. When you use it consistently the color builds. I like that it works as both a tanner and lotion. The only thing I did not like about this product is that you kind of have to use a lot because the lotion is more on the thick side so the bottle goes quickly. I would suggest buying at least two if you are wanting to keep the color up consistently. Overall the product works great and I would buy this again.

I’ve never used a self tanner of any type before. I bought this because it’s a lotion and I apply lotion everyday. Perfect. Prep. Your. Skin. If you aren’t using a loofah or washcloth in the shower - start. I do this every shower. Since my skin is usually dry after showering, I need more moisture than I want to rely on with the tanning lotion so I mix one of the other Jergens lotions (usually almond cherry) 1:1. I pump one pump of the tanner and then one pump of the lotion and rub my hands together. I probably use a good 8-10 pumps per application. Your mileage may vary. I apply to my neck, back, butt, boobs, arm pits, legs, feet. All of it. Make sure you scrub your feet with a washcloth before applying. Trust me. Avoid the very dry/calloused areas because it will turn a funky yellow. Not pretty. Wait a few minutes before putting on your clothes. My first time using it - the next day I could see color. But it took about 3 applications (3 days for me) to really see a marked difference. Use it daily until you get the color you want. If you need faster- apply twice a day. Be careful around the knees and elbows. They can get dark faster than the rest. I avoid them entirely and then just rub the lotion over once I’m done massaging it all into the rest of the area. To maintain your color you will reapply every other day if you are a daily showerer. You can get away with more time if you don’t shower daily. If it seems like it’s fading too fast apply daily for a while. I love this stuff. Being able to simply apply with my lotion and get on with my day is fantastic. It’s not an orange tone tan. It’s a neutral tone. Very much recommend. Colors quickly. Not orange. Easy to use. Forgiving if you prep properly. Smells fine- especially since I mix it with other lotions.

Way better than expected. First of all, this smells soooooo amazing. Like, can Jergens make this a fragrance?! As for its tanning capabilities, let me preface by saying I look nearly albino - I have no pigment in my skin whatsoever. I’ve tried PetaJane, st. Tropez, tanologist, b tan, Bondi Sands, ETC. and nothing comes close to what Jergens can do! After one application of medium to deep, I woke up with a medium toned complexion - doubled down on another layer before work and Oh my God, who is that sexy stranger in the mirror? I am never able to get a tan this deep from any tanning product. It’s insanity. It’s witchcraft. What I love most about this lotion is how hydrating it is without adding weight and greasiness, but hold up, let me tell you first that I LOVE GREASINESS. I’ll moisturize with Vaseline and be happy as a clam. And I don’t know about y’all, but when I use self tanners, especially tanning mousse, I get the dryest, most crepey skin ever, then ECZEMA from the DHA. This does NOT happen with Jergens! I only use rich moisturizers and this product moisturizes deeply while remaining lightweight and not tacky. What more could one ask for? Jergens.. please never change the scent and formula for this product. I tried the “firming” version and it had a totally different smell and it PILLED!!! It also dried powdery! - They need to get rid of it. But THIS product on the other hand the OG, and it’s flawless, it’s perfection, an American Classic, 10/10. I highly recommend it.

I probably should have gotten the light-medium lotion, as this was fairly strong for my very light skin tone. It did work, and work quickly. I did get some streaks here and there, even though I was very careful to stay away from the knees/ankles and thoroughly rub it in. The main issue I had was the strong smell of the lotion. My wife couldn't deal with it so I couldn't use it at night, because she smelled it in the bedroom. So I had to only use it in the morning. I would think with today's technology this could have had a better smell. Maybe coconut, banana, etc. Though smells don't bother me much, I have to admit the smell is not what I would call pleasant.
