The 2nd best game in the series
Like all Supermassive games, i always compare them to the one that started it all - Until Dawn And i have to say storywise and interaction wise, House of Ashes is my 2nd favourite after Until Dawn, it had such an interesting story and depending on your playstyle, good character development I always buy the Supermassive games - Dark Picture series as they are always reasonably priced, i paid £24.99, and i view the games like interactive movies, they have replayability as there is so many different ways the story can go depending on how you play it, so you essentially have many possible different interactive movies, and for the price it is worth it

The BEST Game From The Dark Pictures Anthology Series So Far!!
Although I absolutely loved the previous games from the dark pictures anthology series, Man of Medan and Little Hope, I found House of Ashes so much better! Better in storyline, characters, character development, and very gripping. Man of Medan was a nice ghost ship game with a few chilling moments here and there but it reminded me so much of the 2002 horror movie 'Ghost Ship' with Gabriel Byrne. Shawn Ashmore acted well. Little Hope was all about witch craft and although it was creepy and good, I felt it lacked character development. I didn't care if any of the characters lived or died. In House of Ashes, I found myself liking a couple of the characters and want to keep them alive.

This video game plays like the other ones they have made.
This video game plays like the other ones they have made so far,It's like a fast moving horror film and it gives you lots of different choices as you play a main charecter throughout the video game. It's not really like a traditional video game where you go around doing things or with a gun in first person perspective. It's like the walking dead video games a different company made. The graphics get better and better with each video game they release. This video game is worth playing if you like modern horror stuff.

Rushed
I’ve played all the games by this company so far, the two previous games in the Dark Pictures anthology plus the predecessor “Until Dawn” (highly recommend if you haven’t tried it yet). This game is set around 2003, in Iraq while Saddam Hussein was still in power and U.S. army invaded to overthrow the government. The story follows a team of United States marines and a CIA agent whose special intelligence suggests that a farm in the desert could be a bunker where Hussein is storing weapons of mass destruction, and they set off to secure the area. Quickly things begin to go wrong, when a team of Iraqi militants intercept them and wage war, leading both teams to be swallowed by the ground revealing a network of ancient tunnels where ancient dark creatures tread. As is predictable with games by this developer, you’ll expect to be wandering in the dark through claustrophobic tunnels while the gameplay is heavily focused on QTE (quick time events, a reactionary feature where you’re given a short chance to defend yourself or escape) and moral or strategic choices (either of which can change the course of the story and how the characters will survive). While I enjoyed the game, I felt it had far less attention to detail than the first two In the anthology - to the point the characters seem far more stiff and emotionless and the voice acting at times is hokey. Actress Ashley Tisdale stars in a lead here (the only name I actually recognised) but her character barely resembles her and is expressionless and her movements are incredibly wooden. The characters feel rushed and vague, with very little chance for us to draw any attachment or liking to them (it was this way in the previous game “Little Hope” too). There are storylines attached to some of the characters but these feel half-hearted and more like filler. The game doesn’t give you a chance to get to know, like or hate characters before throwing you into trying to keep them alive, and for me, this kind of made me feel less invested in really striving to keep them all alive during action scenes. The game also has issues with textures, as at times the characters seem to be lacking in detail, slightly blurry, like something from a game ten years ago rather than this year. The game gives you very little chances to explore the settings before pushing the narrative. While the game urges you to collect items or secrets on the way it gives very little chance to do so as picking the wrong tunnel or door will provide a “no way back” scenario so if you missed something, you’d need to replay to find extras. It feels like there’s also very little TO find. One massive issue I have with this game is the subtitles (very important if you’re hard of hearing or for scenes not in your language). Not only are the subtitles quite small if your tv isn’t 55 inches and you’re not within five or so feet of it, there’s times you get little chance to read important subtitles before the next line pops up. Some scenes are spoken entirely in Arabic and it can be difficult to keep up with the speed of the dialogue with what’s happening on screen in addition to the fact if the subtitles are on screen during a brightly lit scenario, the subtitles blend into what’s happening as there’s no contrasting background on them to make it easier to read. Is it playable? Yeah. Is it the best in the series? No. I think to be honest, it felt as if it was rushed to capitalise on Halloween. This game feels the most rushed so far, in my opinion. “Man of Medan” started quite strong, while “Little Hope” felt weaker and “House of Ashes” feels somewhat complacent in comparison to both previous instalments of the anthology. You can almost feel the developers passion for this project dwindling with each game you play.
