I have a vintage kerosene heater from the 1920's that needed a new wick and I researched what was needed. This was the correct replacement and it fits and works just like the original. The price on Amazon was better than any other site I found

Not sure why there are any bad reviews for this wick. I have an old Perfection 525 heater I got from a thrift store. The wick was shot. This one arrived quickly. It took me no more than 5 minutes to install it after watching one of the how-to online vids. That includes trimming it with a sharp pair of shears. I didn't feel like waiting 1/2 an hour for the fuel to creep up the wick to light it. I soaked it myself with a dropper of fuel. Now that $15 heater works like new.

Fit perfectly in my antique Perfection 730 heater, and works just like it should. Easy to install and burns well without any smoke or smell. This is definitely the one you want for your antique kerosene heater. It is solid woven cotton from top to bottom, not the stringy sock like some other brands. The tail is cut into 4 sections rather than 2 like the original wicks were, which probably makes it a little easier to guide them down into the tank. You will need to pre-burn the top edge of the wick before you put any kerosene in the tank, so that the top is level and doesn't smoke. To do this, after you install the wick and while you have the flame spreader removed, raise it so that all of the top edge of the wick is slightly above the top of the wick tubes. Squirt cigarette lighter fluid all along the top edge of the wick and light it. It will burn for a few minutes until it is burned down even with the top of the wick tube, then it will go out. Take the edge of a knife and scrape it until the top edge is all even with the top of the tubes. The wick is now level and you can fill the tank and light it up and enjoy! You won't be disappointed.

Well, it was a great product, let me just ask the seller/sender one favor: DON'T glue the label OVER the instructions.s Luckily, the internet does provide instructions, but...well, it's one thing the company can improve. Even if the Chinese factory workers don't read English, at least they should know not to glue the label over the instructions. other than that, great product, good price.

This is the perfect wick as a 'factory' replacement for my old Perfection 1550 kerosene heater. It has 4 wick tails to better soak up the kerosene as opposed to the type with a split wick tube with only 2 tails. It fits into the heater housing perfectly and installed with ease. The head of the wick comes pre-scorched, I assume to prevent unraveling, and needed only minor trimming after the initial burn. Just what I was looking for! (This heater was found in a landfill 40+ years ago and was put back into use last year. Made the mistake of burning the old wick until the kerosene was gone in the tank and then going out on its own. This just feeds off the wick and burns it down more rapidly, that's why I needed a new one. Always make sure there is fuel in the tank and that the wick is submerged, otherwise you will be replacing it like me!)

I used the wick on my perfection 525 kerosene heater. The fitting was really good and easy to install. The only dislike I had was at the top of the wick, it was uneven. Had to burn off the unevenness in order to have a solid flame. Price is good.
