Yes it is noisy. High speed, high airflow, INDUSTRIAL FAN. Moves a ton of air, exhaust tube may quiet it some. We run ours without for max circulation.

Q: Will this work for a small paint booth

I use this to extract the paint fumes and over spray from my paint booth with great success. I built a filter box along one of the walls of the booth with the fan connected outside the booth drawing the air from the filter box after the exhaust paint filters. I also have box fans set outside the booth to feed fresh air into the booth with in coming filters on the opposite wall of the booth.

Q: What's the spec size of both ends of the fan edge to edge?

Outside length dimension from end to end is (15) inches. Outside diameter of the large, flared end is about (14-7/8) -inch diameter. The small outside diameter on the opposite end is about (13) - inch diameter, and the inside diameter is (12) inch diameter. The fan guards are recessed back (1-1/4) inch on both ends.
