Amazon Basics Silk PLA 3D Printer Filament, 1.75 mm, Silver, 1 kg Spool (2.2 lbs)

I bought this on a whim as the price was good but oh my god what an amazing filament, it prints easily on my adventurer 5m and the result is beautiful. It prints easily, no issues, doesn't string or make any mess. highly recommend it.

Absolutely love this stuff! Have gone through several rolls of both blue and gold with my Bambu Lab X1C with zero issues -- and I mean NONE -- straight out of the box. No clogging, no stringing, no tangling. It prints beautifully using a generic PLA silk profile and required almost no postprocessing. Attached are pics of a pencil holder from Makerworld that I did a few days ago that shows both colors. Just ordered a bunch of silver for an upcoming project and will update this review if somehow it fails to impress, but I don't expect I'll need to do that. Obviously some people have different experiences, but I get extremely consistent results across multiple orders and batches without doing anything other than opening the package, loading the filament, and using a known-good profile for silk PLA, so it suggests any problems lie with other people's equipment and/or practices rather than the filament itself. YMMV.

Worked flawlessly with my Bambu Labs A1 Mini. Printed a detailed print-in-place part with tight tolerances; no parts sticking to each other, no stringing. Has a nice shine to it when completed. Load as Generic PLA.

Purchased this in GOLD. Prints perfectly fine with recomended setup. If you are looking for a very close match to real gold this isnt really that close. Might need to try another brand. -1 star for color.

It took me awhile to figure out the settings for this material. I have a 0.6mm steel nozzle, so that has considerations of it's own. Like some other reviewers though, I found this prints a bit cooler than most PLA. But with my nozzle it ends up being about the same temps (steel nozzles are less conductive than brass and larger bore size means there's more material that needs to be continuously heated). Of course the appearance is pretty cool and its why I bought this stuff, but some other properties are why I'll buy it again. One being that it is a much stretchier material when it's above it's Tg (the video shows how significant the die swell is) and the other is that it is pretty springy like PETG when solid. The molten stretchiness means it doesn't ooze out of the nozzle nearly as much as most other materials. This means those annoying boogers that screw up your first layer aren't as big of a problem. However, if your retraction isn't set right expect your parts to be stringy if there's a lot of cross-perimeter movements. So... don't let any negative comments prevent you from giving it a try. Just expect that it'll take a few tries to get good results. Start with small models and move up once you figure it out. :-)

I wish amazon would bring these back, these printed well enough and were a great value. The spool seems much straighter than anycubic spools I have purchased recently, and I have never experienced a tangle. It may not be the highest performance, but its a stunning silk example.

Fantastic filament. I purchased the silver and it printed really well on my Ender 3 V3 SE and the prints (which are parts for Obi Wan's episode 1 and 2 lightsaber) have a fantastic finish. Would recommend and will be buying again.
