Loved the book just will reread it to get all of the technical abbreviations down. Any triathlete can use this book to help them achieve their goals!

The book has valuable info on data-driven training ideas for triathletes. A great read for triathlon training and racing planning purposes if you are a data-driven triathlete

I've had a power meter for a few years now and have never really understood what the graphs, lines and numbers have meant as they present in my Training Peaks account. But with this book, I'm finally getting it. Coach Vance does a great job of explaining the details with corresponding pictures and graphs without getting overly technical - he's a good teacher. Perhaps it's from years of working with his athletes, or from his personal experience racing, that allows Coach Vance to set the right tone throughout the book - he always seems to get to the quick and steer his points to the actionable. Thanks Coach, you've helped me!

Useful guide to understand the numbers and ratios of your training plan. A must when you use Training Peaks as your log program

It would be fun to have a work book to go with this book... There so many great things to do or consider and as you read on, you find yourself thinking, "How will I get all of this together ?" Thats why maybe a coach can help take a look objectively and keep things straight. Training and racing is an art

My favorite triathlon training guide to date. As a data junkie, it helps me parse through what's important and target my training to improve weaknesses. Jim teaches athletes and coaches how to interpret data from GPS and power meters coupled with HR to determine present fitness and when to move to more race-specific training, rather than blindly following a formula of X number of weeks in the base period.

If you are interested in competing in triathlons, then this is a book for you. It combines high tech with planning to maximize your training in ways that weren't available prior to things such as GPS and other monitoring devices. While this book is addressed to people at all levels of the competition and for triathlons of all lengths, there is a fair bit of weight on the half and full ironman competitions. Rife with charts and graphs, three letter abbreviations, this book starts from before training through to the post season analysis.If you are new to this, have something handy to write with to help you remember those abbreviations as you read through this book. I am not nor never have been a competitive athlete; I have no desire to run races that last for hours, but there was still a great deal of good information I may end up using just in my general fitness.

I think this book is a good "first book": it explains some concepts in a easy way to understand. It's a good base to allows you to start, but you'll have to look for more information. I missed more about swim split, and about olimpic and shorter races, anyway I would recommend it.

Very interesting especially when used with training peaks. Opened my eyes into planning your training to hit goals within your own limits.
