Johnston & Murphy Men's Dobson Cap Oxford

This is my third pair of similar lambskin shoes from J&M. I LOVE these shoes. They are extremely comfortable and great as daily wear shoes. They are very soft and therefore more susceptible to damage and premature wear. The price you pay for that softness is more than made up for in the extra comfort. Also, the break in time is MUCH shorter than harder leather shoes.My two previous pairs were made in Brazil and the pair I just received was also made in Brazil. I have seen online complaints about a decline in quality where the shoes were not made in Brazil (fake, knockoff's?). I expect (and hope) that this newest pair wears as well as the previous pairs. I was concerned that I might receive a pair that was (poorly) Made in China, but I did not.

These shoes are a nice middle ground between leather soled proper dress shoes and Rockport-type comfort, clunky rubber soled shoes. They are extremely lightweight and quite comfortable.My office has hard cement floors and my coworkers tend to wear sneakers and jeans, so walking around the office in leather soled dress shoes makes a rather conspicuous noise and draws attention to myself I'd sooner avoid. The rubber portion of these shoes' soles largely mitigates that problem, allowing me to wear these semi-dressy shoes without clonking around.They're also not as slippery as fully leather soled shoes.So while these are hardly the handsomest shoes on earth, they're decent looking, fairly priced and fit exactly the bill I needed them to.

The best part about the shoe has to be the insoles, which are lambskin and very comfortable with plenty of cushioning. They took about 3 full days of wearing to work to break-in, so before that I was dealing with chafing on the back of my heel.They are a bit narrow, so if you have wide feet you may want to go with a wide size.In the end, these shoes are definitely worth it. Mine were made in Brazil, the quality has been good, and the leather is top notch.

The Dobson cap-toe has a nice, sharp look to it. The toe shape is a good compromise between pointed and square, allowing lateral room for my toes. Soles are leather with rubber inlays; as you'd expect, the leather portions are slick until you've worn them in a bit. The shoe soles are much less stiff than i'd expected despite not being particularly thinAll in all, a great-looking black dress shoe that's all-day comfortable.

These were replacements of another pair of J&M shoes, so buying the correct size was easy. They tend to run about a half size small compared to other shoes. The insole is incredibly comfortable and it feels like your feet are getting a hug all day long.

I took a chance and ordered these from amazon after I saw all the reviews. I read another post that said they ran narrow so I ordered them wide and they fit great. They are very comfortable right out of the box and I didn't have to wear them around the house to break them in. The leather is very high quality and they look great with a suit. Very happy with these shoes.

I purchased these shoes in February 2013 and in just a few months part of the sole fell off. These shoes receive very little activity. I own several pairs of Johnston & Murphy shoes and this is the first pair that have not been excellent. As far as the feel and comfort of these shoes I definitely recommend them. I have the same pair in black and they have been great. Just a word of caution.

I've worn the shoes for over 2 years now but should have stopped sooner. I returned the first pair within the first month of wearing them because the shoe was separating from the sole. Same thing happened with the second pair but I kept wearing them. The shoes feel great and look good but the soles appear to be just glued on and separate very easily. The tip of the sole near my toes has broken apart as well making them look horrible. The shoes had potential to be great but since they started separating from the soles almost immediately, I had to give it 2 stars
