The Gradual - Gradual Tan Lotion - Cruelty & Toxic Free

This product is amazing. I first bought it after seeing it recommended on TikTok, and even though it’s definitely on the pricier side, it has been completely worth it. The color is so natural and glowy, and it’s perfect for daily use or for maintaining a tan between mousse applications. The consistency is great, it dries quickly, and it doesn’t have that strong “self-tanner smell” most lotions have. It applies very evenly, and the only time I’ve ever gotten streaks was in the usual tricky spots — hands, feet, ankles, and wrists — which happens with every tanning product. As long as you blend those areas carefully and wash your hands afterward, it looks flawless. I use it all over my body and pair it with my L’Oréal tanning drops on my face, and together they genuinely make me look healthier and more refreshed, like I actually eat vegetables and drink water on purpose. Overall, I absolutely love this lotion and fully plan to keep buying it when I run out, but so far my first bottle has been long lasting. 10/10 — highly recommend.

I love this stuff. Been using it for over a year. Its an excellent tan you can build with multiple applications. Doesn't stink. I love that I don't have to wash it off. Just put it on after my bath or shower and I'm good to go and glowing in a few hours. Looks very natural, no Oompa Loompas here!

I have very pale, sensitive skin and several skin allergies. Even sensitive skin lotions can break me out. It’s always a risk when I try something new. I’m also white as a ghost who does not tan. I go from white to lobster red and back to white if I’m in the sun. No residual tan. Since this product has decent ratings, I decided to give it a shot. I am (so far) pleasantly surprised. First, it does smell - just like every other self-tanner I’ve ever tried. So don’t buy it if you’re looking for fragrance-free. This isn’t it. It’s not an awful smell, but you’ll know you have self-tanner on. I can deal with it. Next, so far, no breakouts. Granted, I’m using it on my legs, which tend to be less sensitive, so YMMV. It goes on easily and if you rub it in, it dries quickly and completely. Another plus, and more rare than not. I’ve used it 3 days in a row, and any slight streaking has leveled out with repeated use. The look is not orange, but a nice bronze color - and not a strong color, which is what I wanted. I don’t want look like I’m using a bronzer. I just want to take the edge off of my blindingly-white skin. Overall, very pleased.

I'll start off by saying this is the first time I've tried any type of "self tanner" since I'm super impatient and I was always afraid of being orange and streaky. I was doing some research and came across this, and although it's a bit pricey I can confirm it is well worth it! After going through reviews I did end up purchasing a tanning mitt to apply and this goes on so easy! It is very thin compared to normal lotions so you don't need alot. After the first application I could see a noticeable difference and there were no streaks! I've used every other day for about the last week and I've stayed with a nice glow. It didn't turn streaky or wash off in the water and no stains on my towels! I lotion my knees/elbows first then just apply it with the mitt like normal lotion making sure I rub it in well. It does have a slight smell, but it's similar to how I've smelled after using a tanning bed so I don't mind it and my husband says it's hardly noticeable. This is a great product!

Pros: Not a strong scent, easy to apply, not at all orange, incremental change Cons: Coverage is not even, does not last I bought this for a trip, because in my day-to-day I have been mistaken for a ghost. The color was great overall, and it didn’t stain or look unnatural. However, even with the applicator glove and putting lotion on areas like knees and elbows first, I wasn’t able to get an even coat. I was still happy with the results overall, until I went for a swim and immediately returned to my haunting hue. Think it would work if you could continuously apply it, but didn’t fit in my carry on.

Best tanning lotion! It is gradual and works great! It smells great and works amazing!

Tan the next day!! Love this product for a quick tan. My family noticed I had color but not too much color. No too smelly either. My legs don't hold color as well but overall I was happy with it. Super lightweight lotion! Very happy with my purchase!

I tried this once. Initially, I liked the result. Just one application gave me a very nice tan, a bit orange, but overall not bad. The problems started in 3 days. It became very streaky, faded completely in some places but not the others. Unless you completely scrub it off which is not easy at all, you will be covered in ugly orange spots all over your body. I will never use it again. This is by far the worst fading self tanner. Their body drops that you mix with a lotion are much better.

This product is Fabulous!!! Spreads beautifully very milky and a natural tan overnight or with in 4-5 hrs and not streaky!!2nd time buying!! Doesn’t look like a fake tan!!

I have been a loyal user of both Garnier and Dove gradual tanners for years but I have officially been converted. This is AMAZING! It’s not greasy, applies so easily and has a lovely smell. Dries very quickly and doesn’t feel sticky at all! It does develop a tiny bit of that classic fake tan smell after a few hours but honestly it’s so subtle, nothing compared to others I have used! Just beautiful, a new holy grail 🤩

My go-to tanner. I love the subtle tan it adds that grows over time to look super natural
