The Perfect Lightweight Raincoat for California’s Rainy Season
Finding the right raincoat for California’s rainy season can be a challenge, but this lightweight raincoat checks all the boxes. It’s perfect for mild climates, providing excellent water resistance without the bulk or insulation of heavy-duty jackets—ideal for those misty mornings and heavy warm showers. The material is breathable yet extremely effective at keeping you dry, and its lightweight design makes it easy to layer over a sweater or t-shirt, depending on the temperature. The coat also packs down small, making it perfect for tossing into a bag or backpack when the forecast is uncertain. The hood is a standout feature: adjustable and snug enough to stay in place during windy conditions without obstructing your view. Additionally, the raincoat’s sleek design transitions easily from outdoor adventures to casual city outings, so you don’t feel like you’re wearing technical gear all day.For Californians looking for a versatile, lightweight raincoat to handle the crazy rain of the winter season, this is an excellent choice. It strikes the perfect balance between function and style, making it a reliable companion for the rain without being overkill for our typically temperate climate.

Great for trips abroad
I ordered this jacket to take with me on a trip to Europe during spring time due to its portability.I found it very useful that i can stuff it in its own left pocket, took very little space in the bag. This jacket combined with a puffer jacket underneath, provided warmth and rain+wind protection. Plus it looks good!I don’t have experience with this jacket for heavy usage, and I don’t think this jacket fits heavy usage. The price and portability suggest it’s intended for casual use when you need something light and accessible as a quick solution. For frequent/heavy use, I would probably buy something more robust.I bought both M and L sizes, one for me and one for my dad.I am 185cm and roughly 80kg.Medium size fits me well and enables me to put a puffer jacket underneath, although with a puffer jacket it’s a bit tight. If you prefer more loose fit and rely on layering, L is the way to go. M is more fit and suitable when you don’t need layering.Bottom line, this jacket is very practical when you need mild rain protection that is portable and easily accessible. It looks good and is perfect for trips abroad.

Almost the perfect rain coat!
Lightweight, thin, packable, fits into its on pocket. My only issue and it’s not limited to just this jacket. It’s not long enough to cover your butt! Could be a flaw in the industry or it could be a way to sell you the pants. Regardless it’s a great jacket! The armpit vents are amazing!

Highly recommended
High quality. Excellent rain jacket. I have owned several of these. Appreciated the water resistance and rarely got wet. Very packable. Breathable and lightweight. My prior one had flaking of the white coating inside after about 2 years. So far this one is perfect. Only regret is no inside pockets. Overall, highly recommended.

An excellent jacket for light wind and occassional light rain
In the last few years, Marmot has upgraded the rain-proofing coating they apply to the inside of the fabric of this jacket. The new coating resists cracking adn peeling so it should last for a long time. My original Marmot jacket that was basically identical to this new one, and it lasted for 8 years before its rainproofing coating started to flake off. This jacket has a fit that I would call semi-athletic, meaning it fits an American guy (or gal) who is in reasonably decent shape but who is clearly not an Olympic hopeful. The hood with adjustable elastic band, has a clever velcro tab at the base of the neck that adjusts the hood up off of the face if you want. The sleeves are ventilated, and the two pockets close with YKK zippers. ,The stitching, the cut, fit and finish of this jacket is superb. The price is also easy on the wallet. 6 stars in my book.

Lightweight and versitile
I adore this jacket! I've been living car-free for about 5 years now, and in Colorado, that's means biking through sun, rain, wind, snow, hot, cold, and hills. When I first started, that meant buying a vast array of specialty outerwear to throw in my panniers. Poncho, rain pants, fleece pants, leggings, warm jacket, light jacket, wind gloves, rain gloves; really, the works. Size-wise, I am an athletic 5'10", 150lbs or so, and the medium fits me basically perfect. These days, that's all over with. I barely even check the weather anymore, unless it's supposed to be really cold out. If it's actually currently raining when I leave, might wear swim trunks, but otherwise this jacket and some kind of neck wrap like a buff are all I need (plus winter miscellany like gloves and hats). Sometimes heavy rain will splash in through the neckline, otherwise, I wouldn't even need the buff. Varying the pit zips and front zipper provides enough ventilation that I don't get sweated out unless I'm climbing a real monster hill. The jacket handles wind, rain, and snow excellently. It can be quite warm but not on it's own, you really need some base layers, that said I don't often find myself needing a real overcoat (especially doing something active like hiking or biking). It's light enough that sun isn't a problem unless it's a bright warm day where you don't need the jacket anyway. I have worn this for trips to the grocery store at 10°F, all the way up to 25 mile circuits in pouring rain, warm, dry (well, everywhere that needs to be dry, anyway ;)) and comfortable the whole time.
