Hidden Valley Original Ranch Seasoning and Salad Dressing Mix, 16 Ounce

I recently switch to making my own Ranch, as a) I was tired of having to buy the expensive refrigerated stuff to get anything tasty enough to make me eat salads, and b) on a low-carb diet, it's sometimes hard to find products that don't add excessive and unnecessary sugars. These attempts met with relative success: homemade Ranch is unquestionably preferable to the store-bought, but it can be a lot of work, especially peeling and mincing sufficient garlic (I hate cleaning a garlic press). So, I'll admit, I scoffed a little at using a store-made powder, despite a ton of articles on cooking sites rating this product as the best Ranch powder. I mean, store-bought Hidden Valley Ranch is alright, but certainly not up to what I wanted. In practice, though, this product produces a dressing that's miles ahead of the store-bought pre-made brands, even Hidden Valley's own flagship dressing. I can only assume that they have to make tremendous sacrifices in taste to make their brand shelf-stable and not require refrigeration, because it's a night and day difference. In summary: if you're struggling to stay on a diet, absolutely pick this up and make your own dressing. It takes 10 minutes with a hand-main mixer once a week, requires very few ingredients with the use of this powder, and the results are outstanding. On a side note, for those looking for a thick-pouring Ranch that's low carb, I've altered the included instructions to be 1/3 heavy cream, 1/3 sour cream, and 1/3 Hellman's mayo, with fantastic results.

This was actually a better price than our Woodman's!!! It is a perfect way to snack on veggies ... toss a teaspoon of it with celery and cucumbers and it's darn close to a zero calorie snack!

This n some greek yogurt ; great way to make a calorically sane ranch. Add chipotles or dill pickle juice or buffalo for a nice switch up in ranch flavors.

I know some have bashed the price on this, but I think it's a great deal. Ranch packets at the store generally cost over $1 per packet and unless you divide up the contents, its harder to control how much based on the amount of ranch dressing or dip needed. I make all my own ranch dressings since pretty much every kind in the grocery store aisle is loaded w/ vegetable oils and sugar/corn syrup. I make 1-1.5 cups of mayo w/ egg yolks and olive oil, then add a 2-3Tb of this stuff and another 1-1.5 cups of milk and we have enough ranch dressing for the week.

this is the good stuff!!!! Similar to the Chilli's ranch. Put this together with the Kroger brand chicken fingers and it taste just like the Chilli's chicken fingers and ranch. When my husband and I were dating we went to chilli's a lot and I loved the chicken fingers and ranch dipping sauce. We do not eat out much now that we are married and have 2 small kids. We prefer to use our money a little more wisely and eat out as a treat. However, we do not go to Chilli's! I find there chicken fingers too greasy these days! I think it is my stomach that has changed and not their chicken fingers though. We just try to eat better these days and now my palate and stomach do not tolerate junky/greasy food well. But this ranch is easy to make. All you need is mayonnaise and milk to make this into a delicious dressing!

I've been buying this large size of dry Ranch mix for several years now. I mix 2 TBSP dry Ranch in 2 cups mayonnaise and 2 cups light sour cream (Thin with milk) for a vegetable topping, salad dressing, as a dip for bake potato, french fries, fish or just about anything. I haven't done this but mayonnaise and cottage cheese in a blender with 2 TBSP dry Ranch mix would be tasty and low in calories. Even though it comes in a bulk size, it has never spoiled or lost flavor though it's been on my shelf for months. I can't live without this as a staple in my home.
