Runs Hot. Still a Great Deal.
~1 year of use: 06/28/2020All three lights I've ordered are still working with no issues. Not a single LED has failed, and light output appears similar to day one. I still highly recommend you add cooling to these things. They get hot without additional cooling. Regardless, great product.1.5 months of use: 9/28/2019I've run all 3 of my units for 18 hours a day, for 1.5 months. All the leds appear as bright as they were out of the box, and all are still working. No issues. These lights have done extremely well for plant growth. The plants are growing ridiculously fast and are very healthy. Great purchase. Worth every penny!Day One: 8/15/2019I bought three of these. I was skeptical at purchase because of the—no fans—situation, especially with others saying that rows of LED's die out over time. When the grow lights were on, they were hot enough that I couldn't hold my hand firmly on the backing plate. I'm going to try to cool them to extend their life, and I'll be sure to let you all know when they eventually die out.Temperature readings collected:Room Temperature: 89°FGrow Lights after 30 minutes of on-time: 110°F+ (My IR thermometer is not made to read reflective aluminum, so it reads significantly low) It was too hot to touch firmly, so it must be far above 110.I decided to use stock heat syncs from Intel (~$5 per). The temps of the grow lights now read 91°F when on for 30 minutes and feel cool to the touch. Much better readings for a very low cost. Undoubtedly the worst part of these lights are the "LED Drivers" which are definitely hand assembled. One of the three is missing 2 screws, and another has 2 screws that are only half way screwed in at 45° angles, and something inside moves around. I decided to also cool these separately because I'm afraid of them lol. An aluminum block with a 140mm fan above them worked. Fan was $4.99 at my local computer supply store. Overall, I'm hoping the extra cooling will do them justice, because the lights are actually decently bright and appear as though they will do well. I have a 1500W light, but its not great for growing seedlings (or maybe I'm not) because they tend to die under it.If you're looking for a good light for a low cost, this is definitely it. I do think they might really benefit from some form of cooling, but it appears people are loving them even without. Overall, great product.

Understand the specs - Update
Jun 15 - I am updating my review rating to a five now even before I have a chance to determine their long term reliability. They are that good. Low waste heat - high light output - very balanced spectrum coverage. I grow single auto-flower plants in 3 gal. fabric containers and these LED lites are perfect for one plant. Keep raising the LED array so it stays about 3-4 inches above the top foliage. The in-door plants are doing nearly as well as the outdoor plants. I am impressed with these LED panels.Original review - I have had these for 4 days now. I am impressed with the number of LEDs in the panel and the six different wavelengths of light claimed by the seller. The metal back of the panel nor the external power converter get excessively hot during operation but they are dissipating several watts of heat each. If these panels continue to operate with good light output for a reasonable time (say 10,000 hours) I will upgrade the score to a 5).Regarding specs: The only way to know exactly what the power consumed by this LED array is to measure it with a watt meter at the wall while it is operating...I measured and these LED panels consume 30 watts each as seller specified. A fair amount of that wattage is consumed creating heat - not only from the LEDs themselves but the power supply brick that powers the LEDs (note how hot that gets when the LEDs are turned on). Watts consumed only tell you how much power is consumed - not light output. Also, different types of light sources have different efficiencies. A 20 watt florescent can output as much light as a 75 watt incandescent. Perhaps the Amazon description of 75 watt claim is one of those "equivalent light output" claims. Marketing stuff. The only effective way to compare light sources is to measure how much light is received in a particular spot (for example, in foot-candles, moles, lux, etc). To do this you need a light meter. It will tell you exactly how much light you have on your target plant. Also for your reference regarding light intensity usefulness - it should include wavelengths useful for plant photosynthesis - not just visible light. A more meaningful measure than lux, lumens, candles, and foot-candles is called Photo-synthetically Active Radiation (PAR) including a range from 400 - 700 nano-meters. This is measured in how many photons reach an area. It is expressed in millionths of a mole per square meter per second. The seller claims these panels provide about 300 umol/sq.meter/sec which for a 24 hour day is about 26 moles/sq meter/day. Average summer sunlight in AZ per day is about 50 moles/sq. meter. (Avg. daily summer sunlight in Western Washington is about half of this.) Most plants need about 30 moles/sq. meter/day so generally, these panels will do a pretty good job if you use them 24/7. !

Used Product?
I now have three of these lights, so believe me when I say that I really like these lights. I tried another brand that didn't work for me so I bought two more of these.Pros:- Super Thin- Light, can easily be put up with heavy duty double sided tape (I used Scotch 15lbs Permanent Outdoor Double-Sided Tape)- Does not produce any heat- More wats than thicker lights in the category- My plants love itCons:- Underpowered compared to larger lights- Stock is clearly not checked well. I received one light that was scratched up quite a bit. It still works and my buddies were in need of more light so I'll make due... I would like to find these same lights with a little more quality control.I had a very small space to fill so being cool and the ability to stick these up with double sided tape was important to me. If these things don't matter to you, it may be worth it to look into something else. If these things matter to you, these lights may be what you're looking for.
