Complete gate opener at a great price!
This is an excellent product at an awesome price.I built a rolling rate that weighed about 1200 lbs and purchased this due to the low price. It performed beyond my expectation. A comparable unit from a "known" garage door opener company in the US will cost 5X of this. The instruction was not clear but I was able to change this unit from left hand open to right hand open. This was important as the photo beam sensor only activates in the close direction. I also added a receiver control from my garage door opener so that I could operate the gate from the second channel of my garage door remote control.Plus:* Very compact and light unit* Kit is complete with everything to convert a manual gate to an automatic gate. It include 2 remotes, chains/drive, guides, and cover.* All the hardware needed, include the nuts and bolts are included.* unit mounts off of the ground with a powdercoated stand* Unit runs at closer to 34ft/min than the 42ft/min in the spec* Great tech support at AlekoMinus:* Instruction was okay. all the information are there, but It reads more like a engineering specification sheet than a how-to guide. If you don't have a basic knowledge of schematic or wiring, this is not for you. Since it give you all the specs, you could make changes to it like changing the remote unit.* Low duty cycle. Opening and closing the gate for 3 complete cycle in a row makes the motor HOT. I did not try to overheat the motor as I suspect the motor would just shut down when it overheat (over current-draw, which would trip the obstacle stop.* Does not come with some sort of photo beam sensor. It was an $80 option* The stand that comes with it was not the strongest. It kept the motor 12" off the ground (and thus water). It does flex when the motor starts and moves the gate, and it throws the photo beam that I had mounted on it. I called Aleko Tech support to help with this and tighten the chain to 2" drop to minimize the shock at the motor start.* Photo beam had to be mounted on a separate stand and not on the motor stand as it flexes.* Minimum parts support (although not really needed. Whats the point of buying a motor of controller board when the entire unit was only $300?)* Only came with 20' of chain. I had a 24' gate and had to buy an additional complete chain kit.I purchase another Aleko gate opener (AC2000) that was an upgrade to this, with more weight operating capability (2000LBs) and faster (32ft/min) for about $400. Everything was identical to this unit but the AC2000 was not much faster(32 vs 35 ft/min).Overall, this AC1400 was a great unit at an awesome price.

Works
We purchased this to replace a 10 year old identical one. Big heavy rolling gate. It works great.

Poor instructions, good opener
Rated a 4 primarily due to absolute useless instructions and poor service. First call to report missing remotes and was passed around from manufacturer to seller and back. Turned out they were included, packed inside the unit.Instructions indicate to connect an 18-3 power source. Does not come with a plug, would help if it did. The 18-3 power source is code for plug. Best bet is but a short outdoor extension cord and make one. Likely a 16-3.The magnetic stops are interesting to install. Trial and error I figured out how in my case. The brackets would work with a solid gate, mine is steel tubes so I needed to fabricate a price of steel to bolt the bracket to. I found the magnetic stop for opening is on the top left of the stop panel. The close stop is bottom left. Cutting the chain to length also a challenge, but doable. Suggest to practice cut, if need a few feet shorter, cut one foot shorter to practice, then cut to actual length once your set as to how. Once all done the opener is great.

Next time will be different…
I bought this opener as an exact replacement of a 6 year old unit. After multiple issues with the first unit and many replacement parts such as the motherboard and the magnetic sensor switch, magnets and chains, I decided maybe this was a bad unit and a new one would end my problems.Because the base and door hardware were already in place, installation was relatively easy, unfortunately the unit would not switch off when the magnets passed the sensor, checked the positioning and all was good, still not turning off. ALEKO customer service is practically nonexistent and offered no help at all so I decided to swap out the magnetic sensor switch with the old one and it worked perfectly. Needless to say, this new ‘out of the box’ unit failed and the blatant lack of quality control is obvious. This unit will undoubtedly fail probably sooner than later, then I’ll try a different manufacturer and product to hopefully finally eliminate my opener reliability issues. If you’ve read this far then you’re probably looking to buy an opener and my advice to you, keep looking…

Over priced , Vague instructions.
You spend over 400$ on an item , the instructions should be clear. They're completely missing a ton of direction. So plan on putting this thing together with trial and error. Pack your patience ! It's going to be a pain in the ass. I couldn't even find a decent video showing installation. Plenty showing how it works . My last Aleka was a lot cheaper cost wise but built way better with a stronger chain. This one has lightweight hardware and cheesy magnets. The connections are on the opposite side of the entry knock outs making it ridiculous to route your power. I wouldn't recommend this chinese crap. I should of bought the one for 189$ I am sure it's as good if not better.

Works great runs smoothly and evenly
Works great runs smoothly and evenly, install was fairly easy. It did take some time obviously to set things up. The only minor thing that I can think of is that during set up, the safety mechanism takes a while as the adjustment knob is very sensitive, it did take a bit to dial that in.
