This is not sandpaper. It is witchcraft. Or maybe it is doping. There is nothing of this world that can possibly last as long without having been somehow 'enhanced'. Nope, I cannot and I will not ever believe this product is not under some sort of spell that maintains the effectiveness as long as numerous sheets of my (previously) favorite premium sandpaper. And explain to me, if you will, how it is that I have removed absurdly large volumes of oxidized teak and somehow managed to generate an immeasurably small quantity of dust that wasn't sucked up through my dust collector? Huh? No other paper has been able to come close to this performance. You're up to something. I know it. I'll be watching you, Mirka. Oh yes, I'll be watching you verrrry closely.

The sanding is good but the improved dust collection is amazing. Be sure you get the pad protector if you’re using this on a non-Mirka sander

Probably the best sanding disks I have ever used. Will not clog AND lasts 5x longer than conventional sanding disks. Well worth the premium price if you are a serious woodworker.

I love the Abranet system! It requires an extra pad protector, and the disks are more expensive than the paper Mirka disks I was buying before. But the disks last much longer, the sander is able to pick up more of the dust, and I am able to get a much smoother finish on the hard maple I first sanded with these. Before, I stopped at 320 grit because the pads became ineffective (clogged or the grit wore out, I'm not sure which) so fast that I didn't think finer grit was even worth trying. Because I bought the 35 piece variety pack of Abranet disks, I bought a 5 pack of the protector pads separately. Now I can sand up to 600 grit, and the finish is glassy smooth. I'm glad I got 5 of the protector pads because now I can share samples of the Abranet system with friends.

I have tried many sanding disks out there that are sold, and this is the best one I have used to date. It is expensive so buy in bulk and the price is much cheaper. Many times these products are not described as what best to use for. Are you using on bare wood? Are you using to abrade a varnish? Are you using it to remove varnish? All are questions that are very relevant to what type of sanding disk to use or buy, as many times one is not very well suited for another application, as in my case, varnish removal or abrading for finish coat. These disks are the best I have used that eliminate all sanding scratches if used correctly. Very important for either getting ready to varnish or for abrading for finish coat. This is where these shine. No scratches whatsoever. Please be very careful when sanding as any water based finish will show scratches much more than oil finishes, and many will tell you to not use aluminum oxide paper with silicate for water born finishes as the scratches will show through. This review is for polyurethane finishes only as I do not use water based finishes. These have excellent scratch resistant properties which I have had problems with using other manufacturer's sanding disks. That is the bottom line for me. However, I was not totally impressed with dust pickup using my vac on the RO sander. That is why I gave it 4 stars. It is best to use a pad protector under these, which I did, and that may have contributed to less than impressive dust control. However, the protector aided in sanding much more efficiently. Bottom line is these are excellent quality sanding disks, seem to last as long or longer than others, and no scratches whatsoever. No fisheyes either. These are my go to sanding disks when I get ready to apply my first coat of varnish or my final coat of varnish. I use cheaper disks for the bull work and then use these to finish off. Buy them and you will not be disappointed. I have used these for over 30 years so I am not talking as a homeowner, but as a professional. Also remember to use a quality RO sander as these work in unison with the right equipment and you can't beat the new RO sander by Porter Cable for the money.

I have several random orbit sander with different hole configurations so these discs can be used with any of them while also providing great dust collection. The discs also appear to outlast the Mirka Gold discs that I've used for years. Not inexpensive but factoring dust collection and longevity I think they're a good buy.

The Mirka discs are excellent in terms of design and effectiveness and are a great addition to my Bosch sander for finishing work.
