5 year old loves these “pieces of junk”
My 5 year olds saw these on TV and ask for them for Christmas. I bought him the set and he absolutely loves playing with them. I already have to get new batteries for his “motor.” He loves to build legos, blocks and other things. I initially did not like them because I thought they were too hard to snap together, but not all of the connections are like that. We only followed instructions for one or two robots before he started coming up with his own inventions. I just wish the dumpster was a little bigger so it’s easier for him to pick up and store his pieces and shut the lid without taking apart his inventions. I had to get him a different container. I love how it sparks imagination of how the pieces can be used. He brought his motor and a couple of tires to my daughters basketball practice and all of the kids there ended up playing with him (ages 4-13).

Fun for my kid
My kid wanted these junk boys for Christmas and has enjoyed playing with. This assortment seemed the best bang for the buck.

Great toy with a few flaws esp. for kids around 5 years
The main reason I can’t give five stars is that, as other reviews mention, many pieces are simply too difficult for even a 5-year-old to put together. A secondary reason is the “collectible” aspect which I’ll explain more about below. Other than that, they’re awesome. My 5-year-old son is a robot maniac. He’s skilled with Lego, both in assembling sets far above his age level and also in making his own creations. So this concept is perfect: modular robots you can create according to a schematic and also piece together according to your imagination. He’s played with the single set for hours so far. As mentioned above, many pieces are just too hard to snap together. So instead of a “solo play” toy, I have to supervise and help. Not the end of the world, but if you want your young kid to be entertained while you read a good book, this won’t cut it. I really don’t like the “random collectible sets” aspect. You don’t know what parts you’ll get, and that’s simply not appropriate for a toy targeting kids as young as four. Don’t get me wrong, I like collectible things in general, such as collectible card games, miniatures, etc. But for a product this specific, it’s lame. We didn’t get the motor module so now I have to order more sets with no idea what I’ll get. I would gladly have paid more money just to get a complete set of all the major components. Furthermore, I have no idea how many sets I need to buy to conceivably get all the possible pieces. Despite the down sides, my son and I both love Junkbots. One day when he becomes a mechanical engineer and starts building real robots, maybe he’ll stumble across this review on Amazon 😂

Fun times....
I purchased this set for my 8 year old niece. Due to us social distancing I haven’t been able to be around when she played with the set, so I asked her to write a review for me. I couldn’t have said it any better myself. Review from My sweet niece: My aunt send me this junk bot toy set!I’ve had lots of toys with small parts like Ice Cream Shop Woodsies, and those little toys you get from vending machines. But Junk Bots is the best toy set ever! First of all, the lock and chain are SOOO adorable. Next, There are so many gross and fun pieces. Like milk with chunks. Eww. And a jackhammer. I sorted them into piles of plastic boxes and paper groceries boxes and bags, and a pile of favorites cause they’re so cute. Then, I tried to figure what the pieces are and what they do. I figured out that they snap together with knobs and little holes. Some of them light up and spin! The spinning one goes into a funny shaped hole in the pieces. My Nonni figured out that the light thingies go in little holes to make pieces light up. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but there are so many surprises! You are going to love this Junk Bot set! If you come across this amazing toy YOU should definitely buy it!

We LOVE THESE!!!!
OMG- my 9 year old son ( and I !!!) love these junkbots.. I already ordered another set. We aren’t too critical about toys; but believe me we have bought TONS of LEGOs, action figures, you name it. These are easily a favorite and apparently my son had no issue putting them together. The parts are small, but nothing unusual or problem causing. I can see where a child under 5 may take a bit longer to put them together, its not impossible or that difficult. They are also pretty functional and the motor component is really neat- every bot reacts differently when you attach it. Love them!!!

Meh.
I was excited to put these together with my kiddos, but they were very underwhelming. Pieces are very small and easy to lose, not terribly robust (several broke with minimal effort applied), some robots were just inherently unstable and difficult to arrange into a somewhat metastable configuration and pose, and the light and motor units were a great idea poorly executed.

Really creative toy.
I really wasn't expecting much out of this toy. It's just a bunch of fake garbage in a garbage can. Then, your kid starts putting the pieces together to make little robots. It's wildly creative. They basically recycle junk from a garbage can into new things. My son (9) is enjoying this immensely! It's a good value for the money after all. The little garbage dumpster is great for holding all the pieces when they're not playing with it.

My kids saw this on YouTube and desperately wanted it. It came with enough pieces to make 4 little creations. It’s a cute little toy. Lots of assembly and small pieces!

Neat product. Pieces don't fit great. Should be cheaper for what you get.

Way over priced for a box of junk and the size of box is very small not worth the money
