Walkin' The Razor's Edge

Old School Rock
This CD is old school rock at its best. It may not be Helix's best album, but the songs are really catchy. When you listen to helix, you don't hear a guitar sound like Van Halen or George Lynch, but you get good solid rock and roll from these guys. They were a very underrated band in the 80's. None of the musicians could hang with the best, but together they are a great rock band. Just listen to the CD 2 or 3 times and see if you don't start humming some of the songs within the next day or so. I recently bought this CD along with Wild In The Streets and No Rest For The Wicked.I highly recommend those 3 CDs if you're going to buy any of them. Those are my favorites. Rock on Helix!!!

Great good time hard rock!
Helix will never be known as progressive or thinking man's metal but who cares?! This is a great solid album filled with good riffs, cool solos, and the fine vocals of one Brian Vollmer. I have fond memories of listening to the cassette over and over back during the Christmas of 1984 when my family flew to Georgia. Because of the airfare my brothers and I did not get any presents, but this album pulled me through! My favorite tracks are Young & Wreckless, 6 strings 9 lives, and You Keep Me Rockin. There is not one bad song on here. No Rest For The Wicked is another great album from this good time Canadian band. It's a shame that guitarist Paul Hackman passed away. Rest In Peace.

classic Metal
One can always tell a person that was not around when bands like Helix were on the scene, because they refer to all bands from that period as Hair bands. But since Helix formed in 1974, and toured and played in the 70's, they are actually not a Hair band. (which is a derogatory term coined by music journalists in the 90's attempting to stigmatize any musician that was semi famous and played hard rock, or Metal in the 80's, many of these bands sound quite different from one another, and deserve to be looked at with an open mind instead of hate.) Anyway if you are a person that listens with your ears, and not your eyes, and if you like your music Heavy with melody, and fun lyrics, then 'Walkin the Razors Edge' you will love. The intro to "You keep me Rocking it is really neat. The guitar sounds almost like a piano in the intro, some really cool rhythm sections, and then the band goes into the rocking parts of the song. Gimme Gimme Good Loving is a really fun rockin song, The famous Rock you song, will have you cranking up your stereo. Some really crunchy songs on this album, but Helix never forgets the melody. The mixing on the album sounds really good, it's not overly tweaked to where the highs hurt your ears. The mixer was able to retain the integrity of the original sound. 'Walkin the Razors Edge' is a good album to have in your collection.
