Since 2009 when production moved from the factory in England quality for this iconic holiday pattern has been, at best, mixed but this 11 inch four compartment dish is a pleasant surprise. One of the things I have noticed since 2009 is the Christmas tree decals are frequently raised instead of buried in the glaze.Does this matter? Well, to me the pieces feel coarse and I am not sure how, over time, they will wear. But, with this dish the surface is completely smooth with the trees submerged in the glaze. Another problem area are rough spots on the back – small areas where there is no glaze, but again, not an issue with this piece. The dish I purchased is perfectly smooth.The dish itself can serve in many capacities. It can be used for candy, nuts, appetizers, crudité, crackers, cookies, olives/pickles, etc. The four compartments measure approximately 5 x 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. Beautiful and functional.

I thought this would be a perfectly flat plate, but in fact it's slightly convex, which is fine for some desserts but can crack others. Still, it's a beautiful pattern, and the serving knife is a nice bonus.

I started collecting Spode Christmas this year and so far have the tablecloth and napkins, dinner setting for 4, cake platter and another serving platter. Looking forward to adding to my collection!

I bought this for cold meats on Boxing day but its far too small, it will be fine for mince pies but certainly not a meat platter.

Product arrived broken / shattered. Shipper DID NOT REFUND ANY SHIPPING COSTS, which means it will cost me out of pocket to return a defective and damaged product. Do not buy if in Canada!
