Overall Great Product
As allot of reviewers have already notated, this luggage reeks of a chemical smell. It actually smells of moth balls. Prior to my trip I placed it in a separate room and let it air out for several weeks. Closer to the trip I used a box of baking soda to "suck up" some of the odor. On my trip I included a dryer sheet along with my belongings and didn't have a problem with my clothes smelling. After about three weeks it still has a slight smell of moth balls. If this is an odor you can not stomach, I would just walk away now. I don't take umbridge with it as I took the above precautions, but it did reflect in me giving it one less star. Now, as far as the over quality and durability of the item,it works fantastic. I fly out of a smaller airport since I'm in the Midwest flyover part of the country, thus, smaller airplanes. Anyone who has ever flown on a Canadian Regional Jet knows that the overhead compartments are tighter than tight. I had a full bag (although I did not need to use the expansion zipper) and was able to squeeze it into the overhead bin like a glove. The flight attendant even doubted that it would work and once I was able to maneuver it in, some applause broke out in the cabin. I normally used a backpack on my previous journeys, I was able to get double the amount of clothes and belongings in this bag. I'm an obese guy, so my clothes are double the size of a normal person, I was able to get a weeks worth of clothes, my hygiene kit, a pair of sandals, and a set of shoes in there comfortably. I actually had additional room. The luggage is extremely lightweight and rolls around smoothly on smooth surfaces. The only issue I have with the construction is the handle feels a little flimsy once it's extended all the way (it's of the telescoping variety). If you are a shorter individual, this won't be an issue as you won't need to extend it all the way, but if you're over 5 ft 10 in, then you'll need to telescope the handle. As long as you're pulling it from behind, there shouldn't be an issue, but if you tweak or twist the handle more than just enough pressure will probably break the thing. Another bonus I was not expecting was a luggage lock is included. The zippers work smoothly. [UPDATE: I have had this carry on for an entire decade now! I've bumped the rating up to 5 stars because of its resilience and durability. I've flown around the world to several countries several times with it (and it has the scars to prove it) and it has not failed me once. I'm happy to report the initial moth ball smell dissipated after the first year. Unfortunately, the last year or so the wheels are starting to become a little wonky with age. I'm assuming the wheel bearings are probably going bad, but with as much use as I've received from the old workhorse, that's to be expected. I absolutely love the old gal, we have so many memories together across several continents. The day those wheel bearings finally give out will be a very sad day for me.]

Great Product!
First, let me start by saying I found the 28" version of this suitcase at Goodwill for $8!! It was in amazing like new condition. Although, it was not a color I normally would have picked, the price dictated the purchase. I didn't know anything about Rockland luggage at the time. I was just impressed with the suitcase. It's hard-sided, yet lightweight and also has ample room inside. It survived an International vacation, with all wheels intact. That is definitely a win in my book! Fast forward a few months later and I'm trying to find a 20" carry on suitcase. If it could be pink to match my other one, even better. I did some research and found out that my luggage is actually magenta (not pink). Amazon had them new for $65 and also had a "Used - Like New" one for about $35. I've had good success with products in the "Used - Like New" category before, so I thought why not. I am so glad that I did. The suitcase arrived in perfect condition. My favorite features are the wheels (they glide so smoothly in any direction, on any surface: carpet, hardwood, tile, concrete, etc) and the telescoping handle (it fully extends so you don't have to hunch over at all). The zippers work well; there's also one that allows for expansion. (Note if the suitcase is expanded, it may exceed the allowed carry-on size) The interior is pink with white polka-dot. I am very pleased with my purchase. (With my bargain hunting, I've gotten a matching set for under $50) I highly recommend this product.

6 years and still going strong
I've had it for 6 years now. Considered replacing it with fancier more modern looking ones several times, but couldn't justify the price. Most of them are also heavier and/or have less capacity. Comparing with my wife's carry on (Samsonite spinner) the wheels aren't as smooth, but still very good and easy to move around. The only issue is the telescopic handle now has developed a problem and doesn't stay up. I can deal with it and not be bothered too much about it, but some might find it a bit annoying at times. It should be also an easy fix, but I just haven't found the time to figure it out yet. The wheels and everything else is fine. I'm a somewhat frequent traveller and travel 6-7 times a year at least. So if you want a good trade-off between cost, durability and functionality look no further.

very good but not great
This is a nice carry on suitcase for the price point. I ordered it in bronze and thought it looked so gorgeous in the photograph that I wasn't expecting it to look THAT fantastic in real life. I was right. It does not look as good in real life. The hard case parts do look fantastic, the same bronze color as they appear in the photos, and quite expensive looking. However the plastic parts and the zipper areas do look pretty cheap and cheesy as they're a far less luxe and more blah shade of beige. If I had spent over a hundred on this I would send it back but since it was half of that cost I feel it's fair. I also don't love the lining, but it works and has all of the necessary compartments to make it a nice functional piece of luggage. I tend to use totes for short trips and only take longer trips a few times per year so this should be perfect for me, however if I was more of a frequent traveler and hard on luggage I'd go up to a better quality item. I will say also the wheels on this seem great and the handle is very nice and adjusts with ease. Again for the price, great piece of luggage. Edited to add: I have a pretty low key, minimalist and somewhat European style and chose this carry-on, but my best friend is very different in her style, loves rockabilly and punk, very retro, and she saw this suitcase and flipped out and thought it was beautiful. So I think it definitely appeals to a variety of people!

I purchased this carry-on in June 2023 for traveling, and after using it on many vacations over the past couple of years, I’m extremely happy with how well it has held up. Quality & First Impressions: Right out of the box, the luggage felt sturdy but lightweight. The hard-shell exterior looks sleek in the bronze color, and the texture helps prevent visible scratches. The handle extends smoothly, and the wheels glide easily, which made a great first impression. Performance in Daily Use: Through multiple trips—flights, road travel, and hotel stays—it has remained reliable and easy to maneuver. The wheels roll smoothly in airports, the zipper still works flawlessly, and the interior space expands just enough when needed. It fits overhead bins comfortably and handles full packing without strain. Strengths: Lightweight and easy to roll Durable hard-shell exterior Smooth zippers and sturdy handle Expands for extra room when needed Holds up well after repeated use Comparison to Similar Items: We’ve used different carry-ons in the past, and this one has been one of the most dependable. The long-term durability has been better than others we’ve tried. Who It’s Best For: Anyone looking for a reliable carry-on that handles frequent travel well. Great for families, individuals who travel often, or anyone needing something durable and easy to maneuver. Rating: 5 stars — love it, no complaints. — Reviewed by Hibiscus, homeschooling mom rooted in presence Simple, honest, presence-based reviews.
