Great smasher.
Sir smash allot. Does as advertised and recoil on the hands a minimum for the results. Made quick work of a concrete stoop I need to remove in no time. Worth the price. Can see this as a lifetime tool.

Good Hammer, heavier than I thought
I use it for splitting logs, and it works great. It might be worth your while to go to a store and physically pick one up first because it's a bit more difficult to lift than I assumed. I think the sledgehammer I was using previously was 6-8 lbs. I'm going to continue to use it because it delivers lots of power per strike, but it is something of a workout for me. I realize they do tell you it's a 10 lb. hammer, so it's on me that I didn't realize how heavy that feels. I do lift weights regularly during the winter, so I should have known better. The head is 10 lbs., and the total weight of the entire tool is 12.5 lbs.

Excellent Tool For Breaking Rock
Update; I have used this nearly daily for several weeks now breaking up rocks so I can remove them. I can only do this for a couple of hours and don’t swing it constantly. It does transmit much less shock than my old wooden handle model. One thing I did not like was the large stickers that did not want to peel off.my wife suggested using a hair dryer, which worked perfectly, and did not leave any residue - which occurred on a shovel but acetone took care of that. If you need a tool to break out concrete or, as in my case, limestone, this works exceptionally well. I have used both sides. The flat side works to “help” move rock or small tree roots. The wedge end splits rock unlike anything non powered I have seen or used. Just to make sure I tried the flat end and it works to break rock but requires many more blows. The handle does indeed absorb shock more than wood or regular fiberglass handles. I got the ten pound one, which has a total weight of all. 12.75 pounds, so it’s heavy. But your not usually doing round house swings with it, at least I am not. Excellent tool, with Fiskars outstanding warranty, which make it even better.

Thor
Great hammer. I kind of feel like Thor when I swing it around…

Packs a wallop!
The grip on the handle is comfortable and ergonomic and the shaft is strong but lightweight. I needed a heavy hammer to split larger logs on my stand-up log splitter. It was a little unwieldy at first. It's huge and heavy compared to my 3 lb. hammer but after a few dozen tentative swings I was able to learn how far away to stand and now I'm swinging it like a lumberjack. I've used it to split dozens of large diameter rounds into fire pit ready splits for my smoke-less outdoor pit. It still looks great, showing only slight signs of wear but no splintering or anything like that. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Built great
Works great for splitting with a wedge. Good heft, comfortable handle.

Good but
It’s a good sledge hammer. I didn’t get the wedge side though. I got an axe side. For my purposes that may come in handy, but i was confused to receive a sledge axe instead of the demo sledge.

Solid, Will Satisfy Your Manly Urges
This is a great sledgehammer. I don't labor with a sledgehammer, I use it for fitness purposes hitting a large tire. I used to split a lot of wood when I was a kid and find it to be therapeutic, and a great workout! I'm a soldier and we have a bunch of tires and plain-Jane sledgehammers that we use as a unit for this fitness purpose. Long story short, I've swung a few different sledgehammer on a daily basis. This one is well balanced, and handles easily. I don't get the kind of discomfort in the hands that I do with the regular wood handles, because the handle is very ergonomic. The head on this sledgehammer is wide, so I can imagine it would be good for actual "real man work" striking splitting wedges, spikes, or rocks. The area where the neck meets the head seems durable. I remember destroying a few poles when I was younger by accidentally reaching too far and skipping them off the splitting wedge. This one could probably take a few of those missed strikes before showing any damage. Great purchase for the price!
