Head Umbrella Hat, Compact Folding Hands Free Hat Umbrella for Adults Rain Sun Protection Gardening Fishing Hiking Beach Costume, 36 Inch

I originally bought this product as I thought it was something funny to wear but realized this thing is great. I guess it is marketed for gardening but I can see it being used for anything where you need sun or rain protection and need both of your hands free. I've used this multiple times for different reasons. My daughter plays fastpitch softball and I recently bought a nice DSLR camera to take pictures. I've used this umbrella hat to block the sun as well as the rain and it does a great job with both. I initially brought it to the fields as a way to block the sun but during one of our tournaments it started to lightly rain. Not enough to delay the game but enough where I didn't want my camera to get wet. This thing sticks out far enough to block the rain from getting on my Camera as well as my long lens. Also took this camping and it was great when I went fishing in the rain. Kept the rain off of my upper body. As for the quality of the umbrella hat it is great. Very easy to expand and fold up and is very small. The part that goes on your head auto adjusts and fits both my head and my 6 year old son's head very comfortably. The strap to put around your chin is necessary if there is any wind. But with the strap on I had no issues with it blowing off. Of course I wouldn't wear it in very strong winds.

Wow! Talk about a dorky looking hat! If you are concerned about fashion DO NOT BUY THIS HAT!! However - if you want to keep the hot sun off of you while working out in the garden - fishing - or anywhere else that you need relief from both sunburn and heat? Get one. They're cheap and do the job very well. I wear mine out in the garden on hundred degree days when shade of any kind can be a life saver. The cost is so reasonable that I sent one as a gift to a close friend of mine who also works in her garden regularly. She loves it! Downside: the elastic hatband barely fits my average size seven head. If your head is much larger than that it will likely not fit. This is also not a hat you're going to want to wear in any kind of wind. It's an umbrella for crying out loud and will try and take off like a kite in the wind if you do.

Bought it as a gift for family member. He enjoys it a lot, I bought one for myself, works great, but be carful even in slight breeze. Shades sunlight well and area of coverage is more than expected.

Out of the package might fit people with large heads. For me it's WAY too big. It is not adjustable in any way. At all. It's so loose that even an experiment inside in still air, it moves all around on my head with the slightest movement and the forehead strap will slide down over my eyes. The only thing keeping it on my head is the chin tie. For the price I will make it work with safety pins or something, but I bothered doing a review over the false assertion that it is adjustable. If it had been adjustable in ANY way at all, even if it was still too big, I would not have bothered doing a review. I have been using it despite that outside while watering, holding it with my hand, and I do like it otherwise.

I used this umbrella on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia this past weekend for a 14 mile hike in the down pouring rain and it worked great. As I kept this in my side pocket in my backpack, I was able to pull it out and put it on in less than a minute while my friend struggled with taking off his backpack, searching for his rain jacket and then 4 minutes later he had his rain jacket on after he got soaked. While hiking, the umbrella hit several trees on the trail and it would turn my head to the side a little (no big deal) but it kept my upper body dry. Its a full size umbrella and it held up great. When I got the the hostel, other hikers were asking about it and thought it was a great idea. Just make sure to use the straps to tie around your chin to keep in on your head. I am actually ordering another one for my wife. (Never used my rain jacket My arms got wet due to use hiking poles, but no big deal).

First impression...The hat is not at all sturdy. It will definitely break down at the slightest challenge, be it a light wind or a kid... I wore my umbrella hat today for the first time. The hat is wide as described and serves its purpose provided that there is no wind. This morning a very gentle wind (breeze) was blowing at 2.1 mph, and that revealed the lack of sturdiness of the umbrella. Its flimsy skeleton easily moved about, lifting the umbrella cap off my head despite the elastic headband and a spring-stop lanyard cord. Also, every time the light wind blew, the skeleton of the umbrella applied pressure on my forehead causing a minor pain wherever it pressed on... I eventually had to position my fingers between my forehead and the umbrella's skeleton to protect my forehead from bruises.

First of all - I LOVE this umbrella!!! Well made and SO handy. Nylon is rough, but a hat first fixes that. Only BIG issue is wind! I tried it out and there was a fairly light breeze - it pulls your head as you walk as it catches in the umbrella. Not a big deal for most - but I'm kinda small and honestly would worry this could actually pull me along if the wind was any stronger! Seriously - this is EPICALLY amazing, highly recommend and have already done so for a few friends! Would like to have another colour option. I live in Vancouver, we need lots of umbrellas and like to colour coordinate :)

I love it. It's a life saver. I work in the sun for hours on end and I'm a read head, and this hat has been a game changer for me this year. I wish I knew about it before. I can work a full day in the sun and still feel ok at the end of the day. I can't say enough good things about this product. I do wear a bandana under it just to add an extra layer and to have a cotton cloth on my face because I find the plastic not the most comfortable, but I just love how it covers your ears and neck. With sun glasses as well, you'll have barely an inch of skin exposed to the sun.

A little tight around the scalp but it does what it's supposed to do. Larger umbrella coverage than originally expected, which is a bonus. A bit difficult to open up at first, but gets easier the more you use it. Haven't actually tried it out in the field, but I suspect it will work as described.
