Glad this still exists! It works and seems like a better formula than the old days
I used to use this back in the day (in the 80s). This seems like a better formula and it did not dry out my hair like the old stuff. I sprayed it on dry hair and went out it in the sun, not with the blow dryer, and it worked well. I may do a second round. I have blond/gray hair and it did a nice job of highlighting and lightening, and looks really natural. I can avoid fooling around with any highlights this summer, which was my hope. Glad I looked to see if this stuff still existed! Happy!

My Sun In success story
Caution, picture overload! I am so satisfied with this product! In the pictures, the bottom half of my hair was bleached traditionally (I used bleaching powder with 40 vol developer). I always experiment with my hair, always trying out new bleaching techniques, so I remembered about a bottle of Sun In I had in my bathroom forever. The reason It was forgotten there is that I only used it as directed at first. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with spraying it in your hair and letting the sun do the job. The hair lightens up subtly, and looks lovely. That worked great for streaks in my daughters' hairs (the youngest one is an ashy blonde, the middle daughter has middle brown hair, and the oldest has dark brown hair). But I needed to match my previously bleached hair, which was stripped of all of the pigment to the blondest blonde shade. So, I decided to use the Sun In with a blow dryer on the hottest setting. The first round gave me an orangy hue because my natural hair is brown, but I followed up every day for a week until I got the desired level of blonde. Today, I did the unthinkable and used a flat iron to tie it all up and perfect the look. And, WOW! The flat iron did a fabulous job! I'm throwing away all of my bleaching powder and the arsenal of developers, as I am NEVER going back to them! I like the flat iron better, because it didn't cook my skin like the blow dryer, and it worked faster. Tips: 1. use a makeup brush (because it's more absorbent) to apply the product on the area you want to lighten. You control exactly where the product goes that way. Go with a light hand, this stuff REALLY WORKS! 2. only pour a few drops of the product in a plastic container at a time. The more you let that peroxide sit out, the less efficient it becomes. 3. Invest in a blue shampoo, to neutralize orange tones, or purple shampoo to neutralize yellow tones. 4. This product works, but if your hair is dark, it'll take more applications 5. don't use the flat iron method on damaged hair. Have fun!!!

Highlights Galore
Back in the day (eons ago) I had very dark brown hair & used Sun-In but it brought all the red out in my hair rather than the blonde I wanted as a teenager. I used an Avon highlighter years later & accomplished the more beach blonde look which surprised me entirely. They stopped selling it I guess, so I went without until trying 1 or 2 other products over the years found at Sally beauty until I stopped going there. I was reluctant to use Sun-In again, based on early experience but it was easy to get & seems to have made a comeback with its updated look. Offering more than 1 scent is cool too. Well I've used it for some time now & although I've not reached the blonde I once was I have often been complimented for the color & highlights of my hair even by my hair dresser & others. I shock people when I thank them & let them know it's the Sunin spray on lightner not a color. Lol I give 4 stars only because it has never made me as blond as the Avon brand & the older I get I think it may be drying my hair out somewhat now. I don’t use it constantly as I don't often dry my hair nowadays or hang out in the sun enough but I've noticed a change to the way my hair feels. Aging sucks! The Sun-in has never made my hair feel bad so maybe I need to change my shampoo to get my extra soft feeling hair back. The side-by-side pic included doesn't do the different hues justice. There is a lot golden & auburn highlights in my hair when I lighten it regulary & grays are not so noticeable more like silver stands you sort of see. At least that's what I'm telling myself for as long as possible! Haha! I'm glad they still make this stuff & I gave it another chance- it matches better with and helps my overall complexion appear brighter compared to my dark brown hair days.

Best Hair Lightener Ever
This stuff is seriously liquid gold. I made the mistake of attempting ash blonde hair on reddish, very golden, yellow blonde hair, and was left with a disaster with no other solution within my house. Which is where this product comes in. I’ve been using it on and off for the past 6-7 months. It really is the best way to achieve highlights/ touch up roots or lighten your hair without pulling out the bleach and it is much less damaging. And the great part is, that if you spray too much one way or the other/ or imperfectly, it is completely unnoticeable granted you are not spraying intentionally darker areas of hair. The only downside, is that it is super watery, literally looks like water, will bleach your fingers if you use without gloves, and drips down your face while spraying onto hair. Of course you have to over use a hot hair dryer for an extended amount of time for it to work, but it is a small price to pay for amazing results. Keep tissue or napkins nearby for when it gets in your face and wash off any that gets on or around your eyes. It does burn. My photos are a before with the ash blondish hair.. literally over-toned and mismatched, in comparison to a next day treatment with very little sun in spray left to use and it still turned out amazingly. Great product for root touch ups, random highlights or an overall lightning effect. Incredible product.
