Great States 204-14 Hand Reel 14 Inch Push Lawn Mower

This reel mower is perfect for a small yard. Installation was very easy and I was able to mow my lawn instantly after assembly. Ease of Use: This is one of the easiest mower's I've ever used. Simply place the reel mower on the grass and start pushing, the blades start spinning immediately. Cuts evenly every time, and the blades are easily adjustable. Unlike motorized lawn mowers, the best feature of the Great States Reel mower is that it doesn't require any gasoline or oil to run. Durable: I've mowed my lawn about 7 times since I bought it and the blades are still as sharp as day one. I don't have a shed so the mower sits outside under our porch which is still exposed to the elements. There are no rust spots and the mower still functions wonderfully. I will be buying a blade sharpening kit in the future to maintain the blades edge. Portability: The mower is lightweight, about the same weight as a weed-whacker, and is easy to move around and re-position. Limitations: The reel mower has some difficulty mowing through very overgrown grass, I would say that this mower is more of a maintenance tool. If you have thick weeds or overgrown grass, it will take a lot of effort for this mower to cut through it. Who's this for? I would recommend this mower for anyone that is looking to maintain a small yard.

This is so many positive things : 1) Efficient 2) Practical 3) Quiet 4) Workout 5) Fun and only 1 negative thing : It finds it had to cut grass a foot long. I tried to go twice over those areas to get most of the grass cut, then clip with hands what was left. This is awesome if you mow every 2-3 weeks, it will maintain the grass amazingly and you don't even need a grass catcher. I had an electric mower with a 100ft cable going around. It used to take me 3 hours to mow my backyard and front-yard (imagine the hassle of moving the cable around and mowing, always looking out if you cut the wire) . I never tried a gas mower before because of 2 toddlers and a baby, could be dangerous. Also, those are heavy, smelly and a hassle to deal with. The manual reel one did it in 20 min. This little mower can be moved around with one hand, so practical. I could go faster . I literally was jogging and mowing and the same time just for the fun of it (tried it a couple of times), and it would still cut the grass amazingly. It makes very little noise, now I can mow anytime I can without worrying about waking up the neighbors. Best $65 I could have spent. Will get another one for wifey and we will have fun mowing together while having a workout session.

I live in a duplex and am responsible for maintaining several small patches of grass. This is the perfect solution! Blades cut evenly, and although I had to run over a few areas more than once, the mower was still quick and efficient. It’s also light enough to easily carry into my basement for storage. I had no issues with assembly.

This little guy is perfect for my townhouse yard!! It was easy to assemble with the exception of the e clips which I will replace. It works better than expected actually! It was more of a workout than I expected too though. (Which is a good thing! :) It did leave a few tall blades standing, and I did have to make several passes over thicker grass BUT that's pretty standard for reel mowers from what I've heard. I feel really great about the purchase, and so far I'm impressed! If I could go back in time knowing how it operates I would most definitely buy again!! :) I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. Not 5 stars because I will have to find a different piece of hardware to hold the handle bars to the reel. The E Clips simply did not work. It's such a tight fight onto the reel that I mowed without anything holding them on the first time. Worked fine but not a great solution in the long haul. Oh I forgot to mention I had crazy tall weeds and grass in one area and after several passes it chopped them up no problem!! :)

I did not expect this kind of performance from this little thing. Why did I ever use a Gas mower? Its loud, expensive, hard to push and maneuver, chops and scalps your lawn, maintenance costs. The list goes on as to why ill never buy an expensive gas or electric mower ever again. This thing cuts the grass so perfectly, I got curious to see what it all could handle, and pretty much anything except long stringy grass and dandelions weeds would get cut on the first pass. More stubborn areas require you to do a little circle dance on the weeds but holy cow it still cuts some of the thick stuff that I did not think it would ever have a chance at cutting. I got it for a bargain at 50 bucks on prime day but for the regular price I feel like it's a little steep for the small version. I would buy the big one if youre concerned about it not being as fast as a regular mower. I plan on buying the big one too because wow these are amazing. Why we ever strayed away from these designs ill never know. The blade care is minimal maintenance and that's really all you have to keep doing to keep this thing going. We'll see in a few years but I have a feeling as long as you dont leave it in the rain, it'll last a long time. Absolutely blown away by this little thing, now I actually want to mow the lawn and get my steps in without being burdened by noise and maneuvering a heavy gas mower. No more back pain from leaning forward, the handle design makes it so you can mow with your hands at at your waist while standing straight up in a normal posture. This thing is so lightweight it's like going for a walk in your yard. If you end up cutting some long/heavy stuff make sure to clear the stuff that gets wrapped around the wheels because it does make it a little harder to push when it gets too clogged up. Just cut your grass regularly and with this it'll be no problem now. Just buy it and if you do, get a blade sharpener and take care of the blade, don't leave it outside and it'll probably last a long while.

I'm very happy with this little guy! I assembled it without too much trouble and took it out for the first time yesterday. I used two electric mowers in the past, one with a cable and one with a battery. They were so heavy that I really struggled to move them at all, so mowing the lawn took a very long time and utterly exhausted me, and my back and arms would be aching for days afterwards. This mower is so much lighter and easier to handle, after a little push to get it it rolling I just walked behind it and steered. Since it was so much easier to move I got the job done way faster and I feel fine today, no aches or pains!

This mower was easy to assemble and is very easy to use. I love it and love pushing it around the yard keeping the grass in control whilst getting exercise. It is easy to push and the only downside is i have to put it away for winter soon. Alas.

surprisingly functional, blade was very well aligned and for my very small lawn… well, it’s ok. all push mowers become effective once you built walking speed….I do 3 steps…. so, it cuts but it’s not super efficient larger lawns, big yes.
