New Balance Men's MW840 Health Walking Shoe

I have had more than ten procedures (several hammertoe corrections, multiple tendon releases, Morton’s Neuroma removal, arthritis, meniscus surgery, etc) over the past seven years and continue to have additional issues. These shoes, when paired with my orthotics, provide a cushioned, comfortable, stable platform for me. Excellent, comfortable toe box! Because of my issues, I am more comfortable wearing shoes than not and these are my latest shoes of choice. I like them so much, I’ve already ordered another pair.I am 58, 6’5” and weigh 250lb...my shoe size is 14B/D.I’ve been wearing New Balance shoes since 1981 and these are the most comfortable shoes I have worn.

These fit 1 size small as all New Balance shoes seem to. Just buy a size bigger and you will be fine. I wear the 2E width and they fit my wide foot great. I would buy them again. When people say they are heavy.....only compared to a light weight running shoe. For walking these are perfect. Lots of support and cushioning, I wear orthotics and they fit in the shoe perfect once I removed the insole.

I have worn this shoe for several years, and it is an overall great shoe. My one complaint is that these shoes are NOT SLIP RESISTANT. One teaspoon of water on a tile or linoleum floor and you can break your neck. I had a bad fall a couple of years ago while wearing these shoes under just such conditions. Given that a lot of senior citizens and other people who have mobility issues wear this type of shoe, I think it's damned near criminal that they don't make them with a slip resistant sole. I have written to them about this, and got no response. This is ripe for a law suit. Otherwise, an excellent shoe.

I developed a bunion and required shoes with a large toe box. These definitely have an extra large toe box compared to other New Balance WW shoes that were too small. The MW840 WW was a bit too large. Prior to the bunion I wore D size and I think that D size in the MW840 could be exactly the right size, but I don't have a pair to try.. I am keeping the WW shoes but am going to return the WWWW shoes. The shoes are comfortable as they arrived but I did also order a pair of gel insoles which make them even more comfortable.

Time will ultimately tell whether these shoes are worth the price, but right now I'm very satisfied with them. I think they have the roomiest toe box of any shoes I have ever owned. The insole is comfortable but with enough firmness to provide support. I wish the arch support was a bit higher, but it is as good as I expected. If they hold up to daily wear, then I'll be hooked.

I purchased these shoes a day before going on vacation to Scotland for 12 days. Although it was a little risky to do this, I have so much faith in New Balance that I took the chance. They fit perfectly and were comfortable from the start. We ended up walking as many as 25,000 steps a day and the shoes held their own. Will buy them again.

These are great shoes for a large male nurse on my feet all day on concrete. Paired with cushioned New Balance insoles the combo is the best I have found yet. They are heavy shoes but are made for cushioned walking, not running. They have held up well for several months of hard use and are very comfortable.

I bought these shoes because I have severe neuropathy and the sizing options met my needs (size 15). It had the option of a 4 E width which turns out to be perfect for my toes (large toe box), but too wide for the rest of my foot. So, I wear heavy socks If New Balance or another company could make a sneaker with a wide toe box but regular size mid and heel, it would be perfect for me. Style was a little dull, but with the Stephen Curry 2 model being released, it now is cool!
