If you are looking for a leather ball for the three wheel hack pitching machine, this is your ball. Our hitters love the feel of a real ball as opposed to the jugs balls. They last pretty long but will wear out eventually, usually a couple of seasons, but they are under heavy use in our program, 4-5 times a week.

I have these balls for my daughter’s Hack Attack. They work very well for this machine and hold up well. I have tried them on our older single wheel jugs machine and they aren’t as good on the one wheel machine as dimple balls are.

These are some tough balls, but it should be noted, are harder than typical softballs. They last, after getting smashed over and over they don’t deform and they pitch out of our pitching machine nicely.

I bought this softballs for the Jr Hack Attack. What I like about them is that they have the seams that provide some variability to the pitching machine. Still in the strike zone, but randomly placed inside, outside, high and low. What I discover is that to get that variability decreased significantly, the ball needs to be fed to the pitching machine in the exact position, and then you get almost no variability. The advantage is that it looks so real, to the point that my daughters prefer to practice with these balls rather than with dimple balls.

I was very excited to get a non-dimple ball to use in our pitching machine for pop flies. I just received them yesterday and after one practice on our field the covers already have tears. These were used on a nicely groomed dirt field with not rocks. I’m so disappointed since these are not cheap balls. We have another coach who uses these same balls and have not had an issue so I’m not sure if we got a bad batch or if this is fairly normal.

If you want the feel of a true leather 12 in softball, this is it, with the machine throwing these very consistent.

These were chosen by the head coach of my daughter’s varsity softball team. She likes them and they get the job done.
