Effective
This is a good product, seems to be effective without bothering the cats. I am using it on carpet, only refresh every few weeks. Have not noticed residue or buildup.

It works
I do not understand how this has under 4 stars, I have 2 males that I had rescued a few weeks apart from each other, within a few days they started to spray in my house. I would find little marks on my walls or on the front of my dryer ect. The smell was awful and I couldn't keep just chasing them around with a rag and cleaning agents, I seen this on Amazon and seen the lower stars but it was affordable enough to try, IT WORKED, like actually worked, I sprayed the spots they would spray 2 times a day, the first day I noticed a big drop and day by day until they just stopped its been than 2 weeks since i bought this and they are not spraying in my house anymore. Is this a permanent fix? I'm not sure...but I know that as of now for the last week and a half they have not once sprayed in my house.

It’s simple: it doesn’t work.
It simply doesn’t work… my cat started peeing on our couch so I bought this product. Sprayed it many times, my cat kept peeing on it after a while. I’ve used it over couple weeks now and still the cat pees on my couch. I recently washed all the covers (again) and put them back on the couch, sprayed this product, and after no more than 5 minutes my cat peed again on the sofa… I’m throwing this to the trash. Seriously, don’t buy it, you’re wasting your money.

Meh
It works ok for my cat who decided she needed to pee by our front door. The spray doesn't have a bad odor, it just seemed like it didn't work and she was going anyway...even when we cleaned and sprayed. I wouldn't buy it again I don't think.

Part of an Arsenal to Eliminate Cat Spraying
This GREAT smelling product is ONE of MANY methods I use to stop or reduce my cat urinating outside of the litter box. Often there are no easy answers or simple solutions. She has had this problem since I brought her home at 3mos.(now 6 mos.) & though it wasn't daily, I wasn't going to put up with a pee smelling house. Agatha is spayed, has had zero issues w/my welcoming small dog, has no other cats to compete with, lives in a clean house, has lots of toys, good foods, scratch pads, places to nap,has always been an indoor kitty and is an easygoing Ragdoll. I've had urine and stool tests to eliminate any medical issues. She is a happy, constantly purring kitten, poos & wees in her always-clean litter box and gets loads of love and attention from her family. So WHY does she wee on the furniture & beds? I've come to the conclusion it's separation anxiety when I leave to go shopping, etc. though I am retired so I am mostly at home. I purchased Angry Orange products for cleaning and eliminating odors, Feliway spray for the beds, Scat Mats to put on vulnerable areas when I leave for an extended time,I purchased a UV flashlight and use daily to possibly find any urine spots, I've shampooed area rugs, took away throw rugs, give her a 2.5 mg. of a generic prozac daily and spray Pet Organics NO MARK on our furniture cushions 2ice a day. You get a LOT for the money and it doesn't seem to hurt our leather sofas and chair. Because the cushions are leather and there can be urine runoff to the fabric on the undersides and lower sides of the cushions, I also have stuffed matching colored towels between cushions to absorb any urine. All this seems to work well and I have had only ONE wee incident in the last month, and this was before I got Agatha on her tranquilizer. By the way, my pharmacist said people using tranquilizers on their pets is not a rare occurance! The generic is very inexpensive. Also, PLEASE do not physically punish your naughty pet when they have accidents. This COMPOUNDS the problem. Instead, try to reward your pet when they use good bathroom behaviour. My kitty gets a 'Greenies for Cats' treat when I catch her using her box and I say "good girl" and pet her immediately afterwards. Lastly, fyi, I have never before had this kind of problem with a pet. It takes time to figure what works for YOUR situation and YOUR pet. Good luck to you with your pet(s)!

Really does work
This stuff really does work... just keep in mind it's not the "be all end all" solution. We have a house full of rescue cats, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that this stuff has reduced pee issues dramatically. I spray spots every day, as directed... I use Natures Miracle to clean the messes, and once that dries, mist this in the spot. You have to be patient, and use it religiously, but it does make a difference... there are some spots that were CONSTANT pee issue spots... and now there's literally never any pee there. Like i said though, it's not the 100% solution... I think really depends on why your cat is peeing in that spot. Pee issues because a cat is mad at another cat, or mad at us humans for letting the food run out... I don't think this will ever stop those kinds of things. Otherwise though it's been a Godsend for me. I use this in conjunction with another tactic... I got some of those recordable motion activated room entry alarms. If I have a spot that even No Mark won't fix, I put one of those motion alarms there with a stern warning not to pee in that spot. Totally works!

Why the Two Stars
I had an old bottle of this product that worked wonderfully for me and when I put up my curtains I immediately went to start my 'keep away' game. Unfortunately I was running real low so I came here to purchase a few more bottles. When the product arrived I was very surprised to see that they changed it - the ingredient amounts are no longer the same (the newer of them having less amounts of each ingredient then the older bottle) and the newer one is oil based while the old was water. I am sad to see that they changed it up like that and I am really hoping that it still works, it's hard enough to find things to help keep your cats from scratching, it is a shame to lose the one thing that worked. for reference - nacher The old No Scratch ingredient list: Left a nice light piney scent - didn't discolor my furniture. Garlic - 7gm-2.0%, Clove - 7gm-2.0%, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - 10gm-3.0% (Inert Ingredient - Sodium Bicarbonate, Water) The new No Scratch ingredient list : No scent at all (which concerns me) - don't know about it discoloring things yet Garlic Oil - 0.4%, Clove Oil - 0.4%, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - 0.6% (Inert Ingredients - Purified Water, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil - total inerts 98.6%) Thats a huge difference just looking at it - if I noticed that it actually still works and or if I notice it start to discolor my items I will come back and update my review. Keep in mind this has nothing to do with the product seller, I got my order in a timely fashion and it was exactly how it was described, this review was on the actual product and the way it was made.

Best preventative I have used
I have three cats. Each cat has their own litter box, plus one extra. Our last cat we rescued is an indoor/outdoor cat and young. She likes to pee on my bed. Sometimes she will pee on the couch, dogs bed, my daughters bed and dirty laundry. This definitely happens when 1) she doesn’t get let outside to go 2) litter boxes aren’t freshly cleaned. But she can and will do it randomly. I can’t stand it. We love her, but it’s gotten to the point where I was literally looking for a miracle and I found it in this product. I spray it on our bed, the dog bed, couch as a preventative and it works. The scent is mild and pleasant to us, but it works wonders and she has ZERO accidents as long as I spray this weekly on items she likes to pee on.
