Mopar: The Performance Years

In recent years, books on the muscle-era Mopars have proliferated, in large part due to the return of cars with the Charger, Challenger, and most recently Dart nameplates. With all the lavish, color coffee table books featuring these beautiful cars, why would you want this 200 page, 12" X 8.5" black and white paperback? Merely because, as the publisher notes in the 2009 671 Press edition, those books are written today, looking backward. This book collects articles from the '60s and '70s when the cars were new, looking forward.Author Martyn L. Schorr was formerly editor for Hi Performance CARS magazine, from which these bits were taken, along with SPEED, SUPERSTOCK, and SUPERCAR publications. That's about eighty articles, ranging from test drives to racing to performance packages to wing car stats. So while this book won't win a photo contest, it does provide a unique "you are there" sense which not only recaptures the cars, but the eras they were born in.

Gift for my dad who's a big Mopar fan, he thoroughly enjoyed it! Sat there and flipped through & read it immediately. Great gift!

Ever since I picked up a copy of Petersen's Muscle Car Classics that collected old car reviews in 1985 I have really enjoyed these types of books where they collect articles "from the day" on the cars. Great read.

I purchased this for my boyfriend and he loves it. He calls it his "car porn", hope that was ok to say.

Gave the book to my husband for Christmas & he could not put it down. Said it was one of the best MOPAR books he has & he has a lot of the, Service was great as well.
