Maybe a little dated and I had to go through the text multiple times (but as a french speaker I think that the language difficulty is added to the pretty "strong" content). Anyway, this book is a must have for those who want to UNDERSTAND the whys and whats of pattern making. Don't dream, this is not a pattern-making book, you won't be a patternmaker, drafter or cutter after reading it, but you'll have much more than that : the beginning (or complement if you already are advanced in the field of PMaking...) of an illumination about why certains things are how they are and how they work. And isn't understanding the key to further success and mastery? Review: Wrong header - Good book although the header is wrong which is kind of funny

Joe’s Perspective
This book provides some very useful direction on garment design. I would definitely recommend reading this book to anyone who would like to gain a more in depth understanding of pattern making.

Terrible waste of money
Digrams are unclear and unexplained. Formatting is lazy, title on Every page for wrong book. The content is far too generic to be useful. Has nothing practical for making patterns.

Horrible! Messed up reprint!!!
This book about pattens has a foreword belonging to an embroidery book and page headers of a poultry book! I am sure the original book was not like this. So messed up. And I paid over $30 for this? If I paid $5 for this I would be annoyed! I will be returning this! Too bad!

Not that useful if you want to learn pattern dafting
This book is an old, British textbook. It doesn't really address much of anything about modern garments. If you're desperate, you might find something useful in there, but you're going to have to look very, very hard. If you want to learn pattern drafting, try something like "The Pattern Making Primer" by Jo Barnfield & Andrew Richards, or "The Palmer Pletsch Complete Guide to Fitting." "The Theory of Garment-Pattern Making" would probably be interesting to someone researching the history of the garment trade.
