MaxxHaul 50025 Hitch Mount 2 Bike Rack For Cars, Trucks, SUV's, Minivans - 100 lb. Capacity

I ordered this for a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sport, with the tire and camera I had specifics that needed to be met. I needed to add an extender on the hitch, I chose the 6.25 inch extender as that is the shortest I could find. I actually only needed about 2 inches to get beyond the tire and camera. I also added a lock and anti rattle hitch tightener/stabilizer. The lock is probably pointless when the bike rack is installed as the bike rack bolt is a screw in bolt so I’m unable to lock that to the tow hitch. It’s crazy tight and safe I used a ratchet to be sure all the bolts were really tight. I added a video but this does not require any special skills 53 year old woman easy to assemble and install. Does not block the rear camera and with the stabilizer zero noise and almost no shake. Bike is a size small specialized rock hopper, I don’t feel a bike any smaller would fit, this is tight but fits.

Honestly surprised at how easy and effectively this bike carrier gets the job done. In my opinion, I think the installation is pretty intuitive and straight forward, didn’t really need the manual to get it set up. Was genuinely skeptical at how secure the bikes would be based on the basic strap/buckle mechanism. The bike did not budge an inch from the attachment point after taking it on the highway for approx 150 miles at speeds as high as 80. There is a little bit of play, maybe 1/4 inch or less, where the bike carrier inserts into the hitch receiver (my particular hitch, ymmv) which causes a little bit of wobble when driving but it was ultimately secure. In the box a few shims were provided to help reduce this, I will be installing these and seeing if any difference is made. Overall, for $50 this is a great deal.

For the price, it seems rock solid. You just have to make sure every bolt is tightened all the way. All the review I saw of this product being shaky and unsecured seems like user error to me. I found some bad welds in the hitch attachment and the retainer bolt for the hinge could be improved but it’s $60, so you still get more than you pay for. I’d recommend this for bringing your bikes to camp grounds, local trails, and bike parks, but I don’t know if I’d trust the plastic bike mounts and straps on any off road trails/very bumpy gravel roads.

Works perfectly! I do suggest using a ratchet wrench if one is available, however. Much easier and quicker for the 4 bolts.

Had this for a couple weeks now and it gets the job done hauling our 2 mountain bikes back and forth from the trails. It's not a horrible product, especially for occasional use, but I wish I had spent more on a better model. My main gripes are: 1) It fits a 2" trailer hitch, but the tongue (the part that connects to your hitch) is only about 1". So how does it connect? The 1" tongue is beefed up with hard plastic on 3 sides and the combined assembly goes into your hitch. Kludgy, huh? You'll notice that the hitch pin is threaded and you'll probably wonder WHY it is threaded, when every other hitch pin in the universe is smooth. The reason appears to be that, when screwed in and tightened, the hitch pin acts like a bolt, pulling the tongue (with its plastic spacer) tight against the hitch. If the pin is not screwed in all the way and tightened, the bikes will wobble. I even noticed, in the rearview mirror, the whole rack appear to bend in a concerning way as I went around a corner. So you've gotta tighten that pin. But doing so is a pain in the neck if you're putting the rack on and taking it off on a regular basis. 2) My second gripe is that the rack sits way too close to the car. At least it did to MY car ('23 Kia Sportage). The first time I used it, one of the bike pedals made a scratch on the car and when the handlebars turned sideways they tapped on the rear window. Not good! Here comes a piece of advice... get a 2" hitch extension. It solved both of the problems listed above. I got a 7" long extension for like 10 bucks here on Amazon, so now the bikes are 7" further away from the car, which is enough. What's more, I can now permanently tighten the hitch pin against the extension. Then, when I want to install or remove it, the whole thing, rack and extension together, can be connected to the car's hitch easy peasy. 3) My third gripe is less serious. The cups (or whatever they're called) that hold the bikes will rotate in place and invariably are pointed down, when they should be pointed up to receive the bikes. It's just a matter of rotating them around, but it's annoying. This is about the cheapest hitch mounted bike rack you're gonna find. I don't have another to compare it with, so I can't say if other options are worth more money or not, because they may have their own problems. This one is not horrible. Just be prepared to get a 2" hitch extension if you find your bikes hitting the car, and/or if that threaded pin becomes annoying.

OK, I have read a number of negative reviews about the MAXXHaul Bike bitch Mount 50025 complaining that the rack wobbles or the bikes wobble somewhat while driving. I have been using this bike rack for 6 months now and quickly learned that the hitch mount locking screw needs to be tightened down using a ratchet wrench, not the flimsy wrench provided with the rack. This will help ensure that the rack is completely stable in the 2" hitch, (which, by the way, fits perfectly in my Lincoln Navigator 2" trailer hitch). Regarding bike wobble, this is easily overcome with the use of bungie cords around the rack center post and bike frame, and Velcro tie-down straps to stabilize each of the wheels. This takes very little effort and minimal additional expense to ensure that your bikes are mounted securely and safely. If you wish to be doubly secure, you can also attach a Rhino USA Hitch Tightener which will provide an extra level of security against any possible wobble of the mount in the 2" trailer hitch receiver. This tightener is also available on Amazon. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and utility of this very attractive and well built bike rack. I have used in on both local roads and at highway speeds and i am completely satisfied with this purchase. I recommend it highly!

The hitch suits my Ford Focus curt tow bar , l have to honest l have been a fan of Allen but MaxxHaul have real good built quality product and l am satisfied by the finish and user friendly assembly pattern which was done by my 12 year daughter.

What I needed. It works well and it's sturdy!

I wanted to wait until I had to use this a few times before I pass judgment, but I have to say wow I found it simple to put together the rack looks to be well made, I have a Ford Escape that I've had to take it off and put on different times for road trips and I found it quite easy to put on and remove and I love that it has a lever that you can lower the bar so you can still open up the hatch without having to affect anything. Just the way the bikes hang they do bounce a little bit but I found no reason to be concerned about them tied to the back. I have also taken it off roading with quite rough roads and have held up really well.
