Easy and not time consuming. Sets bases for nurtrition through childhood.
We were given this book by a good friend. I love to cook and was excited to cook for our daughter but was worried about giving her the proper nutrition and cooking the food properly. After reading Super Baby Food, I realized that it wasn't all that difficult and took much less time than I had thought. The bases of SBF is the author's Super Porridge. If you have a food processor or blender it is very easy to make and SO much better for your child than that flaky rice cereal. My daughter loves it! The author gives a lot of detail about what foods you can feed your baby, the best ways to cook and prepare the foods and which foods you should stay away from because of potential allergies. I'm constantly referring back to the book as my daughter gets older and seeing what new foods I can introduce to her each month. She's now 11 months and is incredibly healthy, happy and loves to eat. One of the best things about SBF is that following the meal plan sets your child up to enjoy foods that are good for them through toddlerhood and behind.

Excellent Make your own Recipes for baby food with the science and reason behind them
Making your own baby food is easy with this book. I used it for all my children and give it as a gift to anyone expecting. Recipes are easy and lots of great ideas. Tons of info on providing the correct balance of proteins, carbs, fats etc and the healthiest way to achieve this. Baby food is so easy to make. Basically grind mixtures in a decent blender and freeze in ice cube trays, empty into ziplock bags. Perfect serviing sizes. Then take an oatmeal cube, an avocado cube and a fruit and veggie cube. Heat and serve with some yogurt with flax powder etc on it. My children raised on these incredibly affordable healthy recipes were/are virtually never sick or miss days, are robust and strong and fit with excellent BMIs. Can't speak highly enough about this book. Even different games, birthday ideas and homemade cakes etc.

Great resource!
I got this book many years ago when I was broke and popping out kids like crazy, haha (5 total). I ended up making all of their baby food with minimal equipment, while working fulltime, and loved every minute of it. I saved hundreds of dollars and knew exactly what was in my children's food. I did not read the book cover to cover, I just read the sections I needed, and it worked for me. I buy this book for every new mom I know, and I still think it's the best after all these years. Some reviewers say there are too many details, but I didn't think so when I was using it. I just found the information incredibly helpful, and I still remember much of the author's advice, such as what foods to combine to make a complete protein when you're avoiding meat. Great book!

A good basis for developing a healthy eating plan, packed with good information
What I like about this book is: - Separate chapters for the different ages of your baby - recommended diets at specific age buckets - chapters on food types that go into more detail. i.e: veges, legumes etc. and under each of these again a description of which foods can be consumed a which ages, benefits of those foods (eg. vitamins or other) how to cook, limitations etc. - the superfood porridge recipe and the fact that this porridge may be made from different bases i.e: oats, millet, barley. - Coverage of some of the emotional aspects of food - for example, I now have a firm view that it is ok in the first start to have a complete mess wihlst feeding the baby, as her touching her food, the bowl, dribbling is part of a critical learning experience vs me making sure I am every mouthful successfully in my baby's mouth! Overall it provided me with enough information to set up a healthy eating plan, but with enough flexibility not to be rigid and for intelligent introduction of foods and recipies.

THE baby food BIBLE!
This is literally THE baby food Bible! I ordered this book thru the mail from my hospital bed when my first daughter was born. I used the recommendations and guidelines in this book to introduce all sorts of healthy, organic foods into both of my daughters' diets when they were babies. I started with the pureed foods listed in the book when they were 6 months old, and slowly increased the texture as they were able to eat it, exactly as instructed the book. I cannot imagine why anyone would feed their children anything other than these natural, fresh foods that are so essential to brain development and growth. I truly gained an education in nutrition for my children from reading this book. And the step-by-steps to make everything from scratch are SO easy to follow! I believe that feeding your babies the most natural, organic, and nutritionally-packed foods are the building blocks to the healthiest future possible, and it is our responsibility as parents to do so. There is a reason it is called "SUPER" baby food! My daughters are now 18 and 17, have always been the healthiest and SMARTEST kids in their class (my oldest is a pre-med student with a 4.0), and have maintained a life-long love of any and all fresh fruits and vegetables, and have never eaten a vegetable out of a "jar". I truly believe it is because I followed the recommendations and guidelines in this book. In doing so, I gave them the best possible chance to maximize the health benefits of the things they were eating, as well as giving me the tools to teach them how to love eating healthy. I now buy this book and give it as a gift to ALL expectant mothers I know.

Wonderful book.
I used this book and it saved me money and time plus gave my kids healthier options. Avocado? Mango? you can't get those in babyfood jars plus have you smelled those things? If it doesn't even smell good why are we giving it to our kids. This book became my go too for years. Now I give it as a gift at every shower I go to. I still have mine. It has a great reference to each food and how long they will keep in the freezer. Super Easy!!!! Plus I have to say my kids never got sick and if they did it was mild. They never had ear infections! Amazing right! Yes they went to day care. I really think it was because I made their food.

Too informative to digest
Having a 5 month old sitting next to me, I wished i would like this book, but im not. I purchased this book in my research for ways and recipe for his solid journey. Heres what i found: Pro: - very informative and detail from recipe preparing, storing , cooking,.... - has lot of recipe - has some nice tables of guideline Con: - all words and no pictures, it feels like the old novel that we read during highschool literature - the content jumping all over the place. Like when i read the food for 6 month, i would expect some recipe there. Turn out all recipes was at the end, with a somewhat weird order. This would be a great prenancy book, but not for me, or any sleep deprived mother.
