Works fast and gets copper really shiny
There are a lot of products for cleaning copper and that makes it difficult to pick one out of the crowd. At least, that was my starting point. I picked EZ Brite Penny Brite copper cleaner because the price looked right and it had a picture of a penny on the jar and I planned on using it to clean copper pennies. Here's my experience with it. I had a bunch of old, nearly worthless indian head cents. I wanted a project for my daughter (age 8) and me, I so I bought the product so we could shine up these old pennies together and see what they looked like all cleaned up. EZ Brite shined up the old pennies really well and my daughter really got into it and that made the project a great success. The cleaner itself appears to be a mixture of mild soap with an abrasive mixed in. It doesn't irritate the hands and it doesn't have any unpleasant chemical odor and it washes off quite easily. It gets copper really shiny, really fast, and I imagine it would be great for use on copper pots and pans. Because of the mild abrasive, I would not recommend scrubbing a piece of copper artwork nor any coin of any value with it. We tried shining up the pennies in several ways, including a combination of EZ Brite and (1) using a toothbrush, (2) using Q-tips, (3) using fingers, and (4) making a solution of the EZ Brite and warm water in a small plastic container, and placing the coins inside and shaking them up, without any direct scrubbing. As expected, use of the toothbrush produced the shiniest coins but some cleaning lines were visible. Using the shaken solution method did a good job of cleaning and putting a coppery shine onto the surfaces, but did not clean the most difficult, caked-on surfaces as well. My daughter was really proud of her ability to put a bright shine on the pennies and we saved them in a small collector's box. As mentioned, cleaning coins is not recommended for anyone with a serious interest in nusmismatics. For one thing, the shine of cleaned copper is pinkish and devoid of the usual, natural orangy hue of aged copper. For another thing, altering the coin's surface in any way is frowned upon by serious collectors. However, this was a fun project and we did find methods using EZ Brite that could clean a copper coin's surface without leaving signs of contact with an abrasive material (e.g., Q-tips and fingers rather than toothbrush bristles). Overall, I think EZ Brite is chemically mild, relatively inexpensive, and does a super job of shining up copper surfaces.

Effective and non-toxic
Great stuff! I use it for cleaning copper to prepare it for enameling. Works well and pretty fast. I scrub it into the surface and test for sheeting action under running water to ensure cleanliness...only handling my metal at the edges. Certain jewelry suppliers sell it cheaper but charge for shipping so no savings there unless I was ordering more than just this one item. I have read that pumice can be used to clean metal but have not had luck with it. Love that Penny Brite is non-toxic! Gloves are a good idea because it is drying and mildly abrasive. No scent--yay!

Love it.. Works great..
I’ve been using this product for years and I love it!! It cleans pennies and other copper things well! It only takes a little and cleans in no time without having to scrub and scrub. It comes with a sponge, the sponge works great for a while but after using it a lot it starts getting bad so I find a old cloth to use and that works just fine for me. One jar last about a half year for me but I use it on a daily basis because I sale copper keychains and jewelry and I get tons of orders. After a while the cleaner starts getting kinda dry but I just add some water and stir it which works great for me! I have not had any issues of it leaking upon arrival and haven’t had any issues with the product like some reviews are saying. As far as coming half full, there’s no way it can be completely full because then the sponge wouldn’t fit. When is the last time you purchased something that was completely full to the rim? Lol it can’t be completely full! If you want a good copper cleaner you won’t be disappointed in this one! 😁😊😜

Old Product?
Not sure how long this has been on the shelf but the label is bubbled on the exterior and made a scraping sound when the lid was removed due to dried residue. After cleaning the exterior and excess debris around the lid and what fell when opening, it is half full. It did weigh 7 oz so maybe just a large container. As to how well it works, I tested it on US pennies that were very corroded with no numismatic or intrinsic value. What started at $.01 corroded and unreadable is now clean and readable and still worth $.01 and cleaned or not probably would never have increased in my lifetime. See photos of before and after. Luster does not return and actually becomes dull although it is not designed for currency it was the most degraded copper I had readily available. The 2nd photo shows 2 coins at bottom that I'd cleaned 2 days earlier and did not take photos before cleaning but looked much like the ones above. The center one still has some type of gummy substance that the cleaner does not dissolve. For its intended purpose, I still recommend this product.

Great for Removing Tarnish from Copper and Sterling Jewelry!
I have some jewelry that seems to tarnish whenever I look at them (well, it seems that way). ;) I love the pieces, but they are very intricate and very difficult to polish up well using a jewelry polishing cloth. And then... Penny Brite to the rescue! I use it by taking an old soft-bristled toothbrush, dipping it into the Penny Brite and then brushing it into the jewelry. I don't really need to leave it on long at all -- maybe 20 or 30 seconds. Then rinse thoroughly and my jewelry is back to being shiny! It's easy on my hands -- I don't have any reaction, and I do not wear gloves when polishing up my jewelry. I have used this on copper jewelry and sterling silver jewelry -- it works well on both. Tip: If you have hard water like I do, you may benefit from doing a final rinse with some distilled water; it does seem to help the jewelry from tarnishing quite as quickly.

Good product, packaging a little lacking.
Lid was cracked and solution leaked out of the jar. Nobody wants crusty chemicals on a jar at their shop. Product itself works fine. More secure way of shipping would help it arrive undamaged.
