great quality, misleading color description.
I love this gate. Although first I must mention, the color states "bronze" a lot of other people have mentioned it's like a chocolate Brown, I don't know if I got s different one but the color of the one I recieved is black. I would have preferred a Brown, but it is definitely a black! Anyway, I got the gate because I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old that needed to be kept out of the kitchen to keep (my newly walking and getting into everything 1yo) away from the dog dishes and garbage can. I needed a gate that would work with a 76 inch opening and I chose this one not only because it could be made into a play yard, but also when we move in the future the extra inches were nice incase we move to a home with a bigger opening that needs to be closed off. My fiancé got it together in less than 10 min and since he left the drill at my mother's house it's currently not drilled in to the wall but is still amazingly sturdy and hasn't budged even with my freakishly strong 3yo trying to climb and push it, as well as me getting used to it and bumping into it (hard) quite a few times! The plastic joints are great quality and very sturdy (unlike many other kinds of gates I was considering). Others have commented about having difficulty moving the gate door to the middle, but my fiancé had no problem moving and adjusting everything without even glancing at the instructions (and let's just say I'm usually the one fixing and getting things together in the house). The ONLY con I can think of besides the color, is the fact that the door only swings one way... so just make sure you have it the way you want it before drilling into the wall! Glad I was supervising the installation or else I would have been highly upset! It was a toss up between this gate and the other North States 3 in 1 (off white metal one $125), I chose this one mainly because the gate door had like a bump on top where as the white one was completely level all the way across and would be really hard for guests to distinguish where the door is, so to save the embarrassment and confusion I went with this model. Oh, one more CON, as mentioned in other reviews... the gate door isn't wide at all! I read it and didn't think it would be a problem for me since I'm very petite at 115pd 5'2" but it posed some difficulty to be constantly in and out and was the main cause to why I kept bumping into it. Just something to keep in mind! Anyway, great QUALITY product that I forsee lasting years and more children to come! It was definitely worth the extra money for this gate! Not to mention the free 2 day shipping alone was well worth it! I'm very confident in my purchase, I did hours of research and read probably hundreds of reviews which I heavily relied on to ensure I made the right choice especially with the price difference!

Great quality, excellent function.
I'm really happy with this purchase. We needed a gate to surround our fireplace for our youngest that was just learning to walk. The idea of putting a fence in my living room didn't really excite me at first, but when I found this and got it assembled I was actually really surprised at how unobtrusive it looked. - Assembly is a breeze, and really only requires insertion of the bars between the sections, which allows you to place the gate in any location you want. There are also brackets included if like me you are going to secure the ends to a wall. In my case, I used a hammer drill and tap-cons to screw this into the brick around my fireplace and was really surprised at how sturdy it is once installed. - I really like the hold open feature of the gate, so when I'm moving firewood or working in the fireplace I don't have the gate hitting me in the legs. - The color worked really well with our furniture, and like I mentioned above this blended so well with my home that I had several people come over and not notice it for over an hour while we were standing within 5 feet of it. - It's sturdy enough for a 14 month old. My boy is walking and into everything, and he's had his brushes with the gate a few times, but has learned that it doesn't move no matter how hard he tries so he's just decided to leave it be now. I rarely see him even touch it anymore, which made all the effort worthwhile. - As you can see in my picture, I mounted this on top of wood floors, so I did put sticky-felt pads under each corner to help reduce rubbing on my floors. All in all, I have no complaints.

Sturdy, Flexible, Well Made, Attractive.. we LOVE it!
Love this gate. PROS: -Strong and sturdy enough for the most rambunctious of toddlers. -Sits directly on the floor (a plus for stability in a barrier gate) -The door swings shut after you walk through unless you open it totally wide, in which case, it will prop open. -Mounts to the wall with easy peasy mounting brackets. -Every section bends at the joints. -Sections can be removed to suit your length requirements. -You can move the door around to suit your design preference. -Very attractive design. The arch on the door adds some architectural dimension. -Color is very nice. Dark gray.. Sort of charcoal. No brownish as I'd expected "bronze" to looks, but really nice anyway. -Well made parts. Each section is held together by a rail that screws in and tightens. They tighten so well, I have no worries about them -becoming loose. CONS: -The door isn't small, but it isn't huge either. I could see a large person, or a person with a mobility disability (crutches, walker, hobble) having trouble getting through this opening. Otherwise, its just fine. -When using the door, you must step over a piece that lies on the floor. (you cannot roll anything through it). Not a big deal for most, but if you have a pet who doesn't do well with stepping over barriers this might prove difficult (our dog is super anxious, particularly on hard wood floors and would never be able to get through this gate. We are using for baby). -When you mount the gate, be aware of which direction you want the door to swing and then set up the gate in place before you choose the mounting gear for the left and right sides of the gate. (The mounting gear differs a bit for each end of your gate). We mounted ours opposite of what we needed and now my gate swings opposite direction than what I really wanted. Not a huge deal, but wish we'd triple checked that.
