I’m a fan of this primer! I believe it does what it says. I don’t like how other acrylic gessos have a dry, chalky feeling when painted on. This does not absorb the oil from your paint nearly as much. It’s also easier and quicker to work with than oil primer. I do like the feel of an oil primed panel, but I don’t like having to wait for days for it to dry. This primer is sort of the best of both worlds. Dries quicker than oil primer and is less absorbent than other acrylic primers.

The only thing to watch for is screwing the lid back on. Make sure you wipe any excess gesso residue from inside the rim of the lid and on the top edges of the open container, otherwise it will harden shut so that it is nearly impossible to open. This should be done each time when closing this product. Second is by far a better substitute for oil painting gesso, rather than the lead gesso for oil painting.

I attempted an imprimatur today and it failed miserably. The color I attempted to paint over the iprimatura kept picking up the color from the iprimatura. Even after letting it sit two days. I will try it on another painting without the base of an iprimatura. But for now I'm extremely unhappy with this because it's wrecked two of my canvases.
