Letters From the Devil: The Lost Writing of Anton Szandor LaVey Review: Devilishly Good! - Rare, brilliant, witty writings from the late Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan. Between the years 1969-1972, LaVey penned a column in the US monthly, the "Insider", (later "The Examiner")called "Letters From The Devil", in which he regularly replied to letters sent in to him by members of the public. Some people were simply curious about the Church of Satan itself, which LaVey had created in 1966, wanting to know whether scare-stories about human and animal sacrifices were, in fact, a part of the Church's modus operandi or not. Other enquirers asked for LaVey's help as a Magician in solving their everyday problems. In each case, LaVey's answers reveal an extremely intelligent, humourous and sincere scrutinizer of the human animal.Over 60 of his original column replies have now been collected here in one volume, providing an invaluable insight into the philosophy of LaVey Satanism - (and the mind of the Magician himself)- both for Church of Satan affiliates/members and the simply curious alike. Hail Satan! Review: a CLASSIC - absolute CLASSIC that shows LaVeys mastery in all subjects touched upon no matter how esoteric!

Letters from the Devil
What an amazing trip back in time.... I loved this book!! Watch how Anton tackles questions from readers like an evil Dear Abby. For myself it was very interesting to read how Anton goes in depth about the Church Of Satan, Rituals, and personal experiences. The book was designed by Kevin I. Slaughter who did us all a great favor by putting this together in one perfect book. A must have book!!! The Satanic Scriptures The Church of Satan: A History of the World's Most Notorious Religion The Satanic Bible The Secret Life of a Satanist: The Authorized Biography of Anton LaVey The Satanic Rituals: Companion to The Satanic Bible

An amazing compilation! Stepping back in time
An amazing compilation! Stepping back in time, when the questions were innocently ignorant, insanely deluded and eruditely inquiring, Doctor LaVey answers them in a way only he could. Much like the religion he founded, this collection of articles, essays and Q/As is a prime example of why while he succeded in his designs, anyone else probably would have gotten the whole thing wrong. If you are at all interested in experiencing the wit, charm and intelligence of Anton Szandor LaVey and what he represented, this look into the past will enlighten you more than any Sunday school lesson or self-righteous sermon ever could.

Hell of a Good Time
This collection of "Dear Satan"-type letters answered by Anton LaVey in the early 70s are an enjoyable read. The periodicals that they appeared in were aimed at "swingers", so it's also a time capsule. I've been reading the letters over drinks to a friend of mine; when I read LaVey's answers, I do my best imitation of his voice for maximum fun. No better way to spend an hour or so. I recommend this book to anyone who likes LaVey, advice columns, swingerabilia and has a healthy sense of humor.

This book will make you snicker and cackle!
Excellent new product and packaging, arrived in a good timely manner. It's a large but thin book, but it's very dense - this won't be a fest read, and it's very entertaining so far! If you like Anton LaVey's other essay books, you'll love this. Rather than shun those who take his time, LaVey fires concise zaps putting idiots in their places and more.

Letters from the Devil
Anton LaVey's insight on Satanism, High Priest of The Church of Satan. Questions and answer's to everyday situations. Some red hot and some not! LaVey on topics of his own discretion. His beliefs, feelings and emotions. Some yes and no questions focusing on the Darker side of things!

Tabloid journalism
What a lost treasure trove of tabloid articles. Lots overlook and they may be right. But lots of this writing and be edited into the satanic bible lots of it is that good.

I found Letters from the Devil was an interesting lesson of psychology. When read with the Doctors other literature of the lessons of life in the " Real World" you will find that the author reveals the truth before your very eyes. If you want to see and understand the truth of reality of life then I would highly recommend. I remember reading some extracts of this compilation many years ago but they were stolen from me. Truthful psychology at it's best. An easy way to understand is to couple this literature up with Satan Speaks, the truth of realism will show itself. The psychology written here is the truth, it shows you how corrupted extortion has taken place in our society.

A unique, insightful and often hilarious collection of magazine articles written by Doktor LaVey circa 1969-1972 from The Insider titled "Letters to the devil". The questions from the public to LaVey and his responses are the main selling point, and if you know the works of LaVey already you will have a good idea of how he responds to public questions both genuine and idiotic. However I find the main appeal to be the inclusion of all the original adverts from the era, they offer hilarious and intriguing insight into the world 50 years ago. Only negative is the text is a direct print of the original so the font is quite small. In addition, the book itself is an odd size, not quite A4 in height but wider so it doesn't fit on the bookshelf. Other than that, as with all works by LaVey, this is a must own for Satanists or those interested in the Doktor's writings.

I wanted this book for a while after reading some of his others. Some of the letters from the public are amusing and some are genuine enquiries and Anton replies in an informative way with a sense of humour at times. A must for fans!!
