Dumas US Coast Guard Utility Boat Wooden Boat Kit

Merchandise was received new, in a sealed package. Price was very competitive and shipping cost reasonable. As a model maker, it was easier than traveling a distance to a hobby store, which often has to order the kit anyway. This purchase through Amazon saved time, was at a sale or bargain price, saved fuel and was as best as I could expect to obtain through alternative means.

Typical Dumas. I wish Dumas would go back to the luann mahogony instead of the lite ply crap they have started using and give up on die cut/crunch and use laser cut of parts. The plans need to show a few more cross sections. The kit is for sure not for beginners.

This kit makes a GREAT RC boat. I have the twin Dumas motor setup in mine. I used separate speed controls and batteries for each motor so I have 2 independent systems for reliability. Neither has ever failed. The boat runs and looks great. I've added LED lighting to it to run at night. It's a great boat, not the easiest to build but well worth taking your time to do a good job. My only complaint was the water slide decals for the Coast Guard markings. I had trouble with them so I made mine into a Navy boat with simpler markings. My boat is almost 30 years old and it's still my favorite.
