Effective Model-Based Systems Engineering

This book has been my "go to" since it's debut. It is an excellent resource for all levels of Systems Engineers from novice to expert.

This book effectively describes the Model Based Systems Engineering approach with the benefit of the authors decades of experience. As a Software engineer and team lead many of the topics addressed in this book resonated with me. From the chapter on Service Oriented Architecture to the chapter on Real Time Domains, this book demonstrates techniques that are useful in large enterprise software development. Highly recommend to any software engineers that are looking to develop projects in a large enterprise. A++

New book, as described.

The questions are great but without an instructor or some sort of answer to the questions difficult to know if a home learner is understanding the concept.

Chock-full of content, easy to read and understand, not pocket size. I keep it on my desk and refer to it often.

As a systems engineer myself, I sort of came to my wits' end when starting an Enterprise Architecture project with a NATO member state army. This book, which had been sitting in my library for about one year, got me back on track - especially chapter 15, "Implementing Governance to Measure and Maintain Architecture Quality". Other parts of the book are equally valuable. A++

For advanced students of modeling, a warm recommendation! This book, for good reasons, puts a lot of stress upon Object-Oriented Modeling (OOM): both UML and SysML are put forward as first-class citizens. A real plus is the consequent development of the model of a reconnaissance drone in all the various aspects offered and made possible by OOM. The appendices even ofter near-to-formal specifications of UML and SysML. One star withdrawn, though, for a lack of mentioning other modeling techniques such as ABM (Agent-Based Modeling). I am a freelancer offering courses, trainings and workshops in modeling techniques, and could easily imagine building an intermediate-degree to advanced-learners' workshop on top of this book alone.
