Very good, especially for people that have allergies with other hair products
Good product and I didn’t experience any allergy as it has been with other hair color products. I would prefer it to be less thick so it can be easier to manage.

Great at covering grays in "natural" hair!
My hair used to be the most beautiful dark brown/black color when I was in my 20s. Now in my early 40's the gray hairs have slowly but surely, been reserving their spot in my natural head of hair. Despite them being known as the "Threads of Wisdom", I hate them! I purchased this product in color Oriental Black #59, with the sole purpose of covering my gray hair. It's not even very noticeable to others, as the grays were to me. I hated parting my natural hair down the middle, because the gray strands would show. & Yes, I took the natural, "herbal route" (as others have mentioned in these reviews), I tried it a few times, using the herbal formula Henna + Indigo. But when you are rocking your natural hair/curls, you'll tend to wash, condition, and use oils in it more often, than an individual not wearing their hair in it's natural state. This will result in the Indigo (which turns the hair black-"temporaily") to fade quicker. My grays would be exposed again within a week, of using my hair products and oils in my "Henna +Indigo", treated hair. And nobody wants to keep applying a herbal hair color treatment, to their hair two or three times per month, because it fades so easily after washing or applying hair products, & oils. So, the only sure fire way to cover your grays is to use a permanent hair color/dye, over them. Sorry to say, but its the only way because, I've tried both methods the herbal route, and now this permanent hair color route. This particular hair dye is NOT to be slept on. I've seen it in beauty supply stores, all my life. Never imagined I'd be using it later on in my own life, to cover my grays. It's simple to mix (just add water, according to instructions), contains NO- Ammonia, or Peroxide so it doesn't even smell like chemicals at all. It's a dark color, so its not stripping color from the hair (as lightening hair color does, sometimes leading to breakage), its adding color, so it's less harsh. I was beyond pleased after using this for the first time. This permanent hair color, covered my grays COMPLETELY, effortlessly, even the shorter strands around the edges of my head, and the long strands, within a 20 minute time frame (no burning or irritation at all during application process). And the best part about a permanent hair dye, is that I can apply my hair products, and my hair oils too, without the worry of fading my hair color and "re exposing" my grays. This color is beyond amazing. Of course I'd recommend it to anyone looking to cover stubborn, hard to cover gray hair, like mines was. Just make sure you do the allergy test first. IMPORTANT NOTE: I did the Allergy test on my skin, as directed, prior to first time usage. Always make sure to do the Allergy test prior to any hair color application, no matter what brand it is.

Excellent Black Color, Long-Lasting and Easy to Apply
I bought this black hair dye and was very satisfied with the result. My hair is extra long, so I had to use 3 bottles, but it was totally worth it. The preparation is very easy; you just add water, and the product already includes the necessary measurements, which makes the whole process more convenient. My hair is virgin (unprocessed), and I left the dye on for 30 minutes. Afterward, I washed it as usual with my shampoo and conditioner and dried it using cool air. The result was excellent: it didn't damage my hair, nor did it dry it out or leave it dull. On the contrary, it was soft and shiny. It's been two weeks since I applied it, I've washed it 4 times, and the color is still intact, without losing intensity or fading. The only thing I didn't like is that it doesn't include a brush for application, which would be a nice addition. Other than that, it's a very good product, and I would definitely buy it again.

Toxin free hair color
I’ve tried so many hair color brands over the years, but Bigen’s toxin-free formula has really stood out to me. What I love most is that it gives rich, vibrant color without the harsh chemicals that usually leave my scalp irritated or my hair feeling dry. The application was smooth, the scent was much lighter compared to traditional dyes, and my hair actually felt soft and conditioned afterward. The color payoff is beautiful and natural-looking—it covered grays evenly and left my hair with a healthy shine that lasted for weeks. I also appreciate that it’s ammonia-free and doesn’t have that overwhelming chemical smell, which made the process so much more pleasant. If you’re looking for a safer alternative that doesn’t compromise on results, I’d definitely recommend Bigen’s toxic-free hair color. It’s gentle, effective, and makes me feel good about what I’m putting on my hair.

Works great for me - YMMV
I've been using this for five years, so I thought I'd share some observations. I know products work differently on different kinds of hair, so it might be useful for you know that I'm a white woman with fine, straight medium-brown hair that's been processed (body wave), about 75% gray which I try to cover completely. 1. Bigen permanent powder doesn't contain peroxide (unlike most drugstore bottled haircolor brands). Why would haircolor contain peroxide, you might ask? Peroxide, in different volumes, lightens your hair slightly and then the drugstore haircolor deposits color on the lightened hair. The peroxide ALSO roughs up the cuticle of your hair, making it more receptive to the color. Bigen permanent powder just deposits color - no lightening or peroxide unless you add it yourself. 2. Bigen colors are dark. If you have pale hair (lighter than medium brown), it'll probably darken it more than your natural color. OTOH, if you like deep, powerful colors that stay awhile, this may be your hair product. 3. All hair colors contain powerful chemicals and many can be irritating. Everyone is different, and allergies can arise suddenly, even after you've been using something a long time. Follow instructions: do a strand test every time. If you fail to do this and experience a allergic reaction to ANY haircolor, or if you use this to dye things you're instructed not to do (like eyebrows and eyelashes), my heart goes out to you. We've all had these beauty disasters and they totally suck. 4. The ends of my hair grab color quickly but my roots are gray and very resistant to color. I've been using Bigen with Wella GrayAway on the roots (along with 10 volume peroxide per the instructions) and have had good experiences getting my roots to grab the color. I let the combination sit for 30 minutes on my roots and then do the rest of my hair for about 10 minutes. 5. Bigen permanent powder haircolor is NOT metallic and it DOES NOT contain peroxide, in spite of what some people have said in their reviews. 6. As other people have pointed out, Bigen powder isn't a complete kit. Get yourself a ceramic bowl, a hairdresser's color application comb/brush, plastic gloves, disposable shower cap, and wear an old shirt while you apply. Keep towels and bath mats away because this stuff stains. I wash it out in the kitchen sink because the sink allows me to really target my hair and not get residue all over the shower curtain and tub. 7. I've used Wella's GrayAway (to increase grab) and RedOut (to eliminate brassy tones) successfully with this color with good results. These additives are inexpensive and easy to find at beauty stores or amazon. 7. After you color, don't shampoo, Rinse thoroughly, using the tips of your fingers to make sure you've got all the color out of your hair and off your scalp. Your hair will feel dry and porous. You might want to give your hair a dose of deep conditioner, which you can also work into your scalp.. If you leave too much of the color on your scalp, it may itch the next day. It costs me $80 every six weeks to get my hair colored professionally. Bigen has made it much more convenient and less expensive to do the same thing at home.
