D-Link EasySmart 8-Port Gigabit PoE Switch

As much as this can be configured, it's simple to just plug and play. I've set up some custom config on it for priority and bandwidth limits, but anyone can use this switch. It's been up in my loft (which gets very warm over summer) just doing it's own thing, powering two PoE access points and providing ethernet to 5 different locations across the house with no issues at all. It's a great little box.

Me decidí por este switch en lugar del equivalente de Netgear o Ubiquiti porque permite hacer mirror de varios puertos a uno (frente al Ubiquiti, que es 1 a 1) y porque da PoE en todos los puertos (frente a ambos, que sólo llegan a 4). Es robusto y funciona bien pero: - No soporta SNMP v3 - El soporte de SNMP v2c tiene algún problema y no responde correctamente a peticiones bulk de manera que en algunos gestores, como cacti, debes usarlo con SNMP v1. - No tiene gestión de usuarios. Sólo puedes cambiar la clave del usuario administrador, que es el único que existe. - La gestión web es HTTP, sin S. De manera que la contraseña de administración va en claro por la red cada vez que lo gestionas. Increíble a día de hoy que tenga esta carencia sobre todo tratándose de un switch con capacidad de port span.

This is an excellent switch for the price. The interface is slightly old-fashioned, and you need to remember to save your configuration changes to the non-volatile ram after you've made them (changes work as soon as you select them, but when you are happy with them, you also need to save to NVR, or you'll find that if the system goes off for any reason, it'll be back to the original settings when it comes back on). Once you know what's happening, this is quite a useful feature (it's easy to completely break your network if you configure VLANS incorrectly - or at least I find it easy): you just need to turn it off an on again to get back to the last-known-good configuration! It's silent, which is great if it's in your TV room (like mine is). I use it to power/network a couple of Zyxel wireless-AC hotspots, and it works great. You can see exactly how much power they are using. It's a very solid piece of kit, suitable for professional use. It was exactly what I was looking for, and I'm very pleased with it.
