I have one of the expensive "real thing" backpacks and my husband liked it but doesn't care about name brands and all that. I bought him one of these so I could compare it to my "real thing" and it passes muster. In fact, there are two things I like better: this one has padded straps instead of having to buy the padding separately and the two pockets on the sides have some elastic so that your coffee cup or water bottle will fit a little bit better. The sturdiness of the fabric seems to be the same and the straps appear to be leather also like the "real thing". I really like this one just as well. Unless you want to spend 3 times as much, this is a really good option. If you're buying for someone that cares about wanting the brand name, this probably won't be as popular but it's a nice backpack, all the same.
