I purchased the GARTOL Miter Shears – Multifunctional Trim Cutter for small DIY projects, and they exceeded my expectations. The blade is very sharp and cuts through materials like PVC trim, rubber strips, and small wooden moldings cleanly and smoothly. These are surprisingly handy for precise angled cuts, especially on trim, plastic, and softer materials. The adjustable angle guide makes it easy to get consistent cuts without dragging out a full saw setup. They’re sharp out of the box and comfortable to use, though they do require a bit of hand strength for thicker materials. Not ideal for heavy-duty wood, but perfect for smaller DIY or detail work. A great tool to have in your “quick fix” arsenal.

Is this as good and precise as an actual miter saw? No. The flat base definitely can shimmy and throw your cuts off if you’re not careful. But if you are, I think it’s fantastic. I was able to do a whole IKEA piece using just this and if I was a little bit off could trim the tiny bit of excess in a second. I’m sure that a professional would demand more precision, but if you’re like me and these pictures look satisfactory to you, definitely give it a shot. I’ll probably be using this for all my trim if I can avoid a loud heavy dangerous saw.

My husband was surprised these actually worked! He was fully ready to pull out the chop saw and set everything up. I originally planned this project as a DIY surprise for him while he was supposed to be out of town, so I bought these to make it easier to do on my own. He ended up not leaving on his trip and was able to help, and even he was shocked at how well they worked. The cuts weren’t perfectly precise, so we did need a bit more putty work to fill small gaps compared to using a chop saw, but overall it made the project so much easier. It turned out great for a DIY wall feature and was surprisingly simple to use.

So, let’s get to the bottom of this. I got the scissors and it couldn’t cut very well so I figured the blade is dull even though it’s brand new. Luckily it comes with two extra blades but no instructions to take it apart and replace the blade. Luckily common sense helped me change the blade. Still wouldn’t cut very well so I loosened the nut on the side where the brand name is on. It finally cut popsicle sticks, jumbo sticks but it wouldn’t cut large straight super jumbo craft sticks. After observing it, here’s two possibilities as to why (photos included) at the very tip of the blade there’s a tiny gap. Very small. This could be why the tool cuts very well up to about a half inch/inch. Anything bigger and the scissors struggle to cut through all the way. You can still cut if u turn it around cut on both sides and etc to get the desired cut. It was also able to cut a quarter inch shoe moulding only AFTER I loosened the tighten blade. You have to loosen so the nut doesn’t sit flush is how much u have to loosen it to cut properly. Also, compare this to pvc pipe cutters, they’re much easier to hold, and can cut the large super jumbo sticks like butter it just bends it slightly so I recommend modifying them for that particular piece of craft wood. Next let’s talk about the handle as to why it won’t cut longer pieces of craft wood. It’s the handle. You need A LOT of strength in your hands to cut through to the point thinner pieces just struggling to cut at the full length of the blade. My theory is that if the spring mechanism was about to be loosened a bit it would be able to cute all the way through. Or heck maybe if it was tighter but I’m finding I have to squeeze really hard to cut thin craft sticks. That’s not normal. Maybe the blades aren’t sharp enough? That could also be a possibility, I’ll try sharpening further later. All in all not bad but not good enough for crafts and only after loosening the nut did it cut shoe moulding. I’d say they’re average shears.

This is a very solid product. I used it to cut molding to add a little umph to a $60 over the toilet cabinet I purchased from a local store. I was able to cut 45°and 90° angles rather easily - of course, harder pieces of wood required more muscle 💪. I wish I would’ve known about this tool much sooner because it does simplify jobs like this.

Have only just started using them and am very happy with the sharpness, clean cut and potential uses.

Cuts 30mm bull nosed trim very well not tried on anything else but love clean cuts would recommend
