Allen Company Classic Steel Ammo Box, Lockable & Waterproof Lid, 2 Sizes: .30 / .50 Caliber, Army Green

This was my forth purchase and once again I am very pleased with quality and performance of this item. I mounted this one to my tractor for keeping tools clean and dry.

Great construction and good seal. Can easily store 1000rds of 9mm or 500rds of 556. Heads up if you order more than one there is a good chance the cans will have surface damage from rubbing against each other during shipping.

I bought 8 of these and will almost definitely be coming back for more. The only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because I received one can with a very slight ding and the lid won't separate from the can very well. Another can has a lid that slides off TOO easily. Otherwise these cans are sturdy, well-painted, heavy gauge, have wide and thick sealing gaskets, and are perfect for prepping and organizing supplies and gear. I highly recommend these M2A1 .50 caliber cans. They also each have a silica gel dessicant to insure no moisture gets inside after manufacturing. I do understand that the military is right now phasing out use of metal ammo cans and switching to plastic only. I sincerely hope that this company will continue to manufacture these all-metal cans for the civilian market for a long time to come. As I said, I'm definitely buying more!

I wanted something serious to store 500-600 300 AAC reloads in (i.e. NO plastic; metal only) - I don't do plastic for bulk storage of ammo - I often store or 20+ years or more. My oldest right now id about 30 yrs on some .357 deer reloads). This looks to serve me well. solid medium weight metal. I plan to just pile in the loose pieces, once reloaded, so I may be able to get on the high side of my capacity estimate. Also, however, it does optionally fit my open formatted 6.25X5X1.5 blue plastic Dillon Precision boxes very well if I want to load them up with maybe 150-200 rounds each and put those in. It will easily hold 4 of such boxes in total if you arrange them right. Glad I got this. I may get another one for my .223 storage, we'll see. (I gave it a 4 star on "value for the money" since If I cared to drive a 35 mile round trip to my nearest Harbour Freight I could get the same box (by Allen) for $2 less each. I'd have to buy 3 to just break even on gas with that option, so I it wasn't worth the miles and time. Amazon, Amazon... what a service! :)

Storage for lithium ion batteries.

The can is built very well, it's knocked around my house for a while now, and I'm currently using it to store batteries.

Works just like a Mil-surp Ammo box, just as durable too.
