It is what they say.. a good quality mid level sound card
It came (eventually) and installed it straight away.. bingo plug and play did its magic and everything was and is cool. I did read on a few reviews that people had issues with Windows 10 & 11. I run a multi boot system of Linux Mint Cinnamon Win 10 & 11 and plug & play worked on all three O/S's It is what they say.. a good quality mid level sound card. This was purchased as a replacement for a failed Creative Labs (Sound Blaster) card as I'm now skint due to becoming disabled

Bad drivers
Installed latest drivers for Windows 10. After a bit, the SPDIF output stops and requires a hard reboot to get sound back. The little remaining faith I had in internal sound cards has now disappeared completely. Buy a USB sound card and save yourself the trouble.

This card works exceptionally well, especially compared to all the other sound cards reviewed by people. In my case specifically, the card itself installed without any issues upon boot AND the drivers that I downloaded didn't even require that the sound cards 'control panel' be installed to use it correctly, it is optional. Of course you can always let windows handle the necessary driver installation straight from the internet or from the system's library itself. Though you should always check to see if the one you downloaded is more up to date than windows. Fortunately mine were already up to date with just windows alone. Performance? Probably some of the best from any sound cards I have used, including the ones integrated into the motherboard. The sound comes off SUPER clear and with the right amount of amplification needed for my headphones. So there was no issues with either having a flat audio/sound or noise encumbering my experience. The microphone port is also super clear in audio feedback with very little noise in the background. So I can definitely say i've gotten my money's 'worth'.

I had heaps of issues with Creative X-Fi Fatality drivers in Windows 10, but this card worked straight out of box. Sound quality seems good. Only issue is its not 7.1

i got this for my gaming PC. i remembered what a difference a cheap sound card can make from my old gaming PC so i picked this up. the advantage is that the onboard sound youre probably using is eating up CPU cycles to process the sound. this is a processor for the sound so your main CPU doesnt have to fuss with it, like your discrete GPU. all i did was plug in this card, install drivers from site. then i ran CSGO benchmark map and 3DMark. i got a +45 FPS boost in CSGO and an extra 100 pts in 3DMark. the FPS boost probably wont be as much in more graphic intensive games, but it proves that there is a gaming performance boost. if you have a lower powered CPU a sound card is a good way to get more gaming juice out of it. also, it makes things sound better too! how much better depends on what you were using before but for the price you cant go wrong with the gaming boost alone, so even i minor sound improvement is all bonus. i recommend discrete sound cards and NICs to everyone who wants a cheap hardware boost to their gaming rig.
