Hodge Silk Flute Swab - Purple

This is a fine addition to my flute cleaning arsenal, which is this and a microfiber cloth for the exterior. If you are interested and have some old silk fabric around the house, this measure approximately 18"x21" (45cmx53cm). Highly recommended.

This silk cloth works so well, I came back after getting my first one (for my performance flute) to buy a second one for use with my practice flute. It works so much better than the felt-cloth swab I was previously using. I can look down the barrel of the flute to compare moisture streaks left behind with the felt swab versus no streaks left by the silk. The silk is super absorbent and feels moist aftwards from all moisture it picked up - no moisture left behind = longer pad life and longer flute life! This the silk swab may feel wet after swabbing, but it dries amazingly fast. I love both my swabs!

Gentle on the flute and lightweight but not super absorbent. Have to reseat several times to get all moisture out.

I've always used cotton to absorb my flute moisture but this silk product does a great job and will last much longer.

This cleaning swab seems to absorb the moisture out of my flute a lot more efficiently than the old one I used to have. One pass through the interior get almost everything, and after two passes, the inside of my flute is looking nice and dry. Also, the royal purple color just gives it a feeling of luxury, which is nice as a little treat. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.

I was hoping there would be some kind of string attached to this, as I use it to clean my flute. I used to have one that you would drop the string down the body and pull it, and the silk cloth would be pulled through. However, I just stick this through the hole in my cleaning rod (comes with all flutes), and it works well. Silk is the best material for an instrument cleaning cloth. This cloth isn't that big, so it fits into my case well. (I wouldn't buy this for a large instrument, but it's great for something flute-sized). It's a little thin, but it's nice quality, and looks nice. Best cloth I found on Amazon, and I searched for a while! However, you would probably find a bigger, thicker one (with a string, if you want) at a music store. Good for the price too!

I use this on my wood flutes with tapered bores. The triangular shape is easy to adjust so it doesn't bind in the narrow sections. I would recommend using a wood swab rod like a Yamaha or equivalent for this swab.

I have a new wooden flute, so I have to be extra careful about swabbing it. I wanted a green one and this is the only one I could find. It is a great swab and much bigger than the black one that I'd been using for years. It's very expensive, even more so than the burgundy swab, which is strange. I held off buying it for a while because of the price, but it should last for years, so I finally ordered it. Delivery was fast and I'm happy to have it.

I bought this after some advice that silk was the best for cleaning a flute head joint. It’s very nice and does the job without leaving lint behind. However, at the price I could have bought a piece of pure silk cloth from a dress shop.

It was rubbish far too small not absorbent at all.

This flute swab cloth is great. It is easy to use and easy to clean.

I liked that it arrived, I didn't like it had to be ordered twice. It was a little smaller than we had hoped but it ended up being free so hard to complain. It does do the job and is basically everything it was advertised to be, other than being delivered on the guaranteed date but again, they worked that out so not a big deal I guess. I would likely order it again.
