This SS scoop is made of heavy gauge metal, and has a larger diameter threaded shank than most others. But it is rather expensive -- I'm buying these and other scoop kits purely for gifts to many people and not just family members -- for what it is. The "hawk beak" does enable concentration of user force to scoop hard ice cream. But fitting it to a handle including the substantial SS ring bezel takes more time and may even require hand filing despite drilling the hole in the handle as accurately as possible on a wood lathe or on a drill press prior to mounting on the lathe. And it is quite heavy. If you want a beefy, "manly" ice cream scoop, this may be the one for you. It could also be used as a weapon, if needed.

High quality manufacture and engineering. 304 SS, and ferrule dsigned to cover end grain, so can use favorite wood for handles. Almost a perfect design.A design for easy removal of handle so scoop could go in dishwasher would be perfect. Maybe in the future.

Price jumped up over 50%. Wanted one more but not at new price.

Instructions on how to assemble would help the beginner.
