Swanson SVE360 36-Inch Savage Straight Edge, Non-marring, Anodised and Laser-Etched Scale

This is a really well finished product. It’s straight, smooth and all measurements on both sides are dead-on accurate. The non slip material on the bottom is neatly applied and sits flat. But my main reason for buying it was the hand/finger protection when using it as a straight edge while cutting with a razor knife. I could have saved on bandaids and a painful embarrassing moment a couple times years back. That said, I’d be wary ordering a longer straight edge (mine is 36”) due to the likelihood of it getting bent during shipping. Reviews with photos prove that.

We use this in our small sign and graphics shop. We got the 36" version. It's a great improvement over our traditional rulers and straight edges. Has a grip on the bottom so your materials don't move when cutting. Made of aluminum. Worth every penny, will be purchasing more

LOVE THESE STRAIGHT-EDGES! These are amazing. I love the grips of the bottom and the built-in hand guard. These have made my life much easier and I feel better allowing people to borrow them, knowing they’re less likely to cut themselves! Overall, I love them and wish they came in a wider variety of lengths and colors.

I use this for cross cuts when wallpapering. Its non marring back is great for this application and it really sticks without moving. Straight and light, it's a good inexpensive tool to have.

Very sturdy and great for cutting. Wish I had bought one of these years ago - didn't know they existed. Helps keep you from accidently slicing your finger while using it as a straight edge with a knife. Your fingers will thank you.

The good: Looks great. (Hook 'em!) Even though I already had a metal yardstick, I picked this up because the shape keeps it rigid and makes it easier to manipulate. The unexpected: The padded bottom is an advantage and a disadvantage. It's is nice that the tool is non-marring; but the edge doesn't sit right against whatever is underneath it. This small gap makes it harder to use as a straight edge for drawing or cutting (compared to my unpadded metal ruler, for example). The bad: First, the padding is made of shelf liner material—the little foam dots melted together into a sheet. Individual dots will come off and the material can be crushed. I'm skeptical about how well this material will hold up over time. Second, the manufacturer ships this item without any protective packaging. The result is that it arrives more scuffed up than it would have gotten after a decade of use from me. (I'm gentle on my tools.) I have several of these (48" 36", 24", and carpenters square) and the story has been the same for each of them. Fortunately, I knew this in advance (thanks to another Amazon review) so I ordered each of them separately to prevent them from banging into each other during shipping.

Straight edge works amazingly I install wallpaper for different designers in Palm Springs so this works perfectly for my work. Highly recommend for keeping your fingers safe I’ve used other straight edges and my finger was almost cut off so I changed to this one and have never had that problem with cutting myself!!!

Amazing straight edge i use it all the time and use it as an edge for my skill saw with a couple clamps. The finger protector grove area makes it easy to use and the gri p on the bottom is great. Also looks great
